Cajun Honey Lime Wings

There’s wing sauce and there’s WING sauce. The Cajun honey lime sauce on these wings was so good that I’ll be using it on a lot more than ‘just’ wings. A little spice, a little sweet, and a little citrus, all in a thick but not gooey sauce that doesn’t just flow off your wings into the bottom of the basket. Finger-licking good, that’s for sure.

A Wonderful Citrus Flavor

I used a fairly tame and not overpowering BBQ sauce when I made these Cajun honey lime wings. The flavors could easily be drowned out by an overly sweet smoky BBQ sauce. Just grab your run-of-the-mill regular ole BBQ sauce. Nothing fancy.

To keep things kinda Cajun-y, I used Crystal Hot Sauce. Man that stuff is so good!

I store my leftover homemade sauces in squeeze bottles. If refrigerated, I set them out an hour before using so they come to room temperature. You don’t want to put cold sauce on hot wings!

Cajun Buffalo Wings

I admit, not everything in this sauce screams Cajun, but these Cajun Buffalo wings are so darned tasty I didn’t care. Everything I love is in this sauce which explains my addiction to it. I cannot stop eating wings tossed in it. A little heat, lots of (yummy) garlic, and just the right amount of traditional Buffalo flavor, this sauce is a real winner.

Amazing Flavor in Every Bite

If you want your Cajun Buffalo wings to be even more on the spicy side, use Frank’s RedHot Hot Buffalo Wings sauce. Or go with mild for less heat. I opted for less heat this time and really enjoyed it. Not every wing sauce has to sear the roof of your mouth.

You’ll love the flavors of these wings as much as I did. It’s great stuff! For a nice twist also try my Cajun Bay wings.

Buttermilk Wings

I almost crossed the line into grandma’s deep-fried chicken with these buttermilk wings. Actually, I did cross the line. But that’s ok, I saved myself by drizzling traditional Buffalo wing sauce over these crunchy, tasty beauties before devouring them. Yeah, you sure can toss your battered wings in sauce, but beware! That lovely coating can be fragile. It doesn’t like being thrown hither and yon (which I think means tossed a lot). That’s why I prefer to drizzle the wings with sauce or dunk them in it instead.

Buttermilk Wings

A Fantastically Crunchy Tasty Wing

If you have some of your favorite wing seasoning on hand, I recommend substituting it for the salt and paprika when you make these buttermilk wings. It’s a great way to create a sort of deep-fried ‘dry’ wing. Nothing wrong with salt and paprika, nope. But you bought that wing seasoning for a reason! Get it in the flour mix and don’t be shy with it!

If I’m cooking for a crowd, I’ll break out my big deep fryer. But if it’s just me, I’ll fire up my Fry Daddy fryer. It’s the perfect size. It fries everything perfectly. And as an added bonus, it doesn’t use a lot of oil, which saves me money. And more money means more wings!

Buttermilk Wings

  • Combine the buttermilk and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a medium bowl. Add the wings. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Heat a few inches of oil to 350 F in a deep fryer or Dutch oven.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, paprika and remaining salt.
  • Working in batches, remove wings from the buttermilk. Shake off any excess and coat in the flour mixture.
  • Shake off any excess and add to the fryer and fry for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Serve with desired wing sauce on the side for dunking or drizzling.

Notes

For a little kick, add a few good shakes of hot sauce to the buttermilk mixture.

Buffalo Wild Wings Teriyaki Wing Sauce Wings

Oh sure, I love spicy, hot chicken wings. But I’m also a big fan of more savory wings. In fact, the Buffalo Wild Wings Teriyaki wing sauce wings are my wife’s and my favorite. We always order them (though she often opts for the boneless wings while I go for the bone-in versions).

Buffalo Wild Wings (of course) sells their sauces in their stores. They’re quite reasonably priced, and when you order 3 (or in my case, a lot more than 3) you can get them in this fancy carrying box. I think all of their flavors are available to go, except the current ‘special’ sauce, which is unfortunate because the flavor-of-the-month not too long ago was a crazy good chipotle cherry sting sauce. I’d drink that stuff with a straw. So go get you some Buffalo Wild Wings Teriyaki wing sauce today!

Buffalo Teriyaki Wings

The simplest of wings can often be the best. Like these Buffalo teriyaki wings. Just a few ingredients and a little cooking time and I’m enjoying great wings. No fancy batters or marinades or anything. Just cooked plain wings tossed in a great sauce. I cooked my wings in the air fryer but any technique will do. I make the sauce while the wings are cooking since it doesn’t take long to prepare. The end result is lightly sweet and lightly spicy. It’s a great combination of Asian-inspired and traditional wing flavors. These are finger-licking good wings!

Buffalo Teriyaki Wings

Step Up Your Teriyaki Game

You can use whatever teriyaki sauce you like to make these Buffalo teriyaki wings. But for me, my go-to teriyaki sauce is from the fine folks over at Bourbon Barrel Food. They have two versions actually. The Kentuckyaki sauce is a wonderfully bourbon-infused sauce that has such a great, deep flavor. It’s great anywhere I need a teriyaki sauce. And of course their spicy version is … spicier! It also makes for a great sauce for these wings!

Buffalo Supreme Wings

Buffalo wings, blue cheese, and celery. Very traditional and very good and usually, each component is served separately. But why not cut to the chase and combine all of those great flavors into one bite? Buffalo supreme wings do exactly that. Yeah, they’re messy to eat, but that’s part of the fun. And they do combine all the great classic tastes in bite after bite. You just cannot beat these wings!

Everything You Need in one Bite

I really enjoyed chowing down on Buffalo supreme wings. They didn’t last long at all, that’s for sure. It was bordering on embarrassing, but I couldn’t help myself. That happens with me and wings a lot. I used the classic, Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce, but you can actually substitute your favorite.

You’re not going to need a dipping sauce for these wings. What could you possibly dip them in that would make them better? They’re already tossed in the best everything-in-it sauce ever!

Sometimes it’s the easy, simple things that taste the best. These Buff-a-cue wings came out fantastic. The sauce takes literally no time at all to make. Brined Sous Vide Air Fryer Wings

I’ve been making wings in my air fryer for a bit now. They make for a great quick lunchtime meal, that’s for sure. But, I’m always on a quest for something different, a twist. Brining wings (or any poultry) helps tenderize the meat and keeps it juicy during the cooking process. Sous vide provides a perfectly-cooked, consistent dish that is amazingly tender. Combine those and cook the wings in the air fryer and wow! Crazy good brined sous vide air fryer wings!

It’s brine time!

I used a standard brining solution for my brined sous vide air fryer wings. You can add other ingredients if you want to infuse other flavors. Adding herbs, hot sauce or spices can make a big flavor impact. Try different combinations to see what you like. Not that there’s anything wrong with salt, sugar and pepper. Depending on which sauce you’re going to use on your wings, you might not want a strong wing flavor that ends up fighting with your sauce for taste.

The air fryer that I own doesn’t have a lot of bells (ok, it does have a bell) and whistles, but it makes for crazy good chicken wings.

Brined Sous Vide Air Fryer Wings

Brined Sous Vide Air Fryer Wings

These wings make for a great quick lunchtime meal,

  • In a large resealable container, combine the salt, sugar, pepper and water. Stir until the salt and sugar are well dissolved.
  • Add the wings. Cover and place in the fridge for 1-33 hours.
  • Set up your sous vide for 155 F.
  • Remove wings from brine. Shake off excess brine and transfer to a sealable bag. Vacuum seal making sure to remove all of the air.
  • Sous vide the wings for 3 hours.
  • Remove the wings from the sous vide bag and spread out on a sheet pan. Pan dry and transfer to the fridge overnight. This will let the skin dry to get crispier. If you are in a hurry you can skip this step.
  • Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 350 F.
  • Toss wings in your favorite seasoning. Lightly spray your air fryer basket with non-stick spray. Add to the air fryer basket and cook for 6 minutes. Flip and cook 6 more minutes. If the wings need to be crisper at this point, turn the heat up to 400 F and cook another 3 minutes.

Notes

You can do the final wing cook using whatever technique you prefer, and not just in an air fryer. Use my guide for cooking wings as a basis, but remember that the wings are already cooked. You are just warming them and crisping the skin. So whichever technique you use you won’t need as much time. I use a general rule of half the cook time as I’d need for raw wings.

Big Game Hot Wings

These Big Game Hot Wings were some of the best, if not the best, homemade wings I’ve had. The sauce really hit the spot for me. It’s the perfect combination of a little sweet and a little heat, with a little vinegar and mustard tang to it. It’s beyond finger-licking good. And since it’s homemade, I got to adjust the heat to my liking. That meant that I added a bit more hot sauce than the recipe calls for. You can use more. Or less. This sauce would be great for the Big Game. You can make a huge batch of sauce without a lot of fuss or trouble. If you’re worried about the heat scaring off some of your guests, just make two different batches. One with the pepper flake and hot sauce, and one without.

Beer-Battered Wings

When I was knee-high to a grasshopper, like about 5th grade, I absolutely loved the peg legs at Long John Silver’s. They were battered, fried chicken legs. They’re now called ‘planks’ and are made with boneless chicken. Well, phooey! They took away my fun. Well, that’s ok, I love wings now more than legs anyway. But I still love battered and fried chicken, so … yep, I made beer-battered wings! Kinda like the peg legs of my childhood, but with yummy, juicy wings instead!

Malt Vinegar. Yes. Malt Vinegar.

Since I’ve already upset the traditional wing gods by making beer-battered wings, there’s no reason in stopping there. There’s only one thing you can serve with these delicious, packed-with-flavor wings and that’s malt vinegar. Your brain is gonna think fish-and-chips but your mouth is gonna scream ‘yummy wings!’. Pour it on top or serve it on the side for dipping. Yummy malt vinegar makes these wings even better.

  • In a large bowl, whisk the egg. Continue whisking while slowly adding the beer.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper and garlic salt.
  • Drizzle the flour mixture into the egg bowl while stirring constantly. Set aside for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the wings and boil for 5 minutes.
  • Drain the wings and transfer to a wire rack-lined baking sheet. Pat dry and set aside until ready to cook.
  • Bring a few inches of oil to 350 F in a deep fryer or Dutch oven.
  • Working in batches if needed, add wings to the batter and coat well. Transfer to the oil and fry for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack-lined baking dish to drain while cooking the remaining wings.
  • Serve with malt vinegar and enjoy!
