Legend Larry’s Scary Larry Wings

I always say ‘it’s been fun’ before I dive into a batch of wings covered in a super-spicy wing sauce. You know, just in case things go sideways. Legend Larry’s Scary Buffalo wing sauce worried me a bit. I mean, it says ‘scary’ right there on the label. Not ‘hot’ or ‘spicy’, but ‘scary’. Heck, it was scaring me. Then I took that first bite of wings tossed in the sauce. Well, first thing was the heat. The spice. The tongue-tingling sensation. Maybe a sneeze or two. Then along came the wonderful, outrageously good flavor. The perfect combination of spices and vinegar sauce, these wings were fantastic. And scary hot.

Legend Larry's Scary Larry Wings

Heat! Glorious Heat!

So what do you do if you’re worried that Legend Larry’s Scary wing sauce is too hot for you? Well, first, accept that it’s going to be hot. Accept that it’s going to tingle your tongue and not for just 2 seconds either. But know that you’re going to taste a delicious sauce too. So go light that first time. Don’t drench your wings in sauce. Lightly coat them. Heck, they don’t have to be glistening in sauce!

La Preferida Extra Hot Wings

You can’t go wrong with a batch of La Preferida extra hot wings. The sauce is what I would call your pretty much standard Buffalo wing sauce. With a good kick. Seasoned perfectly. To be truthful, with a trusted name like La Preferida on the label, I was expecting a little something different. A twist. A little special seasoning. That didn’t happen. But, these are still good wings. If you’re in the market for a good Buffalo wing sauce, this is a great choice.

La Preferida Extra Hot Wings

A Rarity?

I found a bottle of La Preferida extra hot wing sauce at a specialty grocery store in Cincinnati. I can’t find it online anywhere. Heck, I even tried contacting the company to see what the deal is and why I can’t find it anywhere. I wanted to make more La Preferida extra hot wings. I do love a good Buffalo wing sauce and this is up there with all the big names in wing sauces.

Fried. Or Not.

I made my wings my standard fried way. Just a light coating. Fried to perfection. Then sauced. That’s it. Well, that and happiness.

Kroger Parmesan Garlic Wings

My tastes in wing sauces pretty much run the gamut. I may enjoy a few spicy Buffalo wings for a bit, then I’ll need a switch. And often that switch is to one of my favorite flavor combinations: Parmesan cheese and garlic. Kroger sells a mighty fine Parmesan garlic wing sauce, and it’s quite affordable to boot!

Kroger Parmesan Garlic Wings

Great Flavors At A Great Price

This sauce is exactly what I would want (and expect) from a wing sauce. Perfect balance of flavors. Nothing is drowning out the other tastes so I get just one. Perfect consistency. No pools of sauce at the bottom of my plate. It works and it works well. Kroger nailed another one with their Parmesan garlic wing sauce!

Kroger’s spicy garlic wings are great too! Give them a try!

Legend Larry’s Hot Garlic Wings

Legend Larry’s is a wing joint with a few locations around the Green Bay area. I’ve never been there but I can see why it’s popular. I picked up a few bottles of their wing sauce at Jungle Jim’s last time I was there. The first I tried was the Legend Larry’s Hot Garlic wing sauce. This sauce is not for the timid. It says ‘Hot’ in the name for a reason. It definitely has a kick but it’s not an over-the-top kick. I’d call it the perfect kick. And the garlic? Same thing. It’s got a great garlic hit, but again not over-the-top. This is a wonderful sauce that I will enjoy time and time again.

Legend Larry's Hot Garlic Wings

Plenty Of Garlic And Heat

I’ve found that there’s something seriously addicting about each of Legend Larry’s wing sauces. The consistency is perfect, just the right thickness to stay on your wings even when dunking into blue cheese dressing. The flavors are bold and the sauces don’t taste like they came from a bottle. Good stuff. Mighty good stuff. You can’t go wrong with any of them. Make sure you grab more than one bottle of Legend Larry’s hot garlic wing sauce whenever you get the chance!

You’ll want to also make Legend Larry’s medium Buffalo wings.

Kroger Mild Buffalo Wings

I’ve said it before. If you’re standing in the wing sauce section of the grocery store, trying to decide on the next sauce you’re going to grab for a great batch of wings, do not hesitate to try the store brand. I was at Kroger, and I couldn’t help myself. I grabbed one each of every one of their sauces, including the Kroger Mild Buffalo wing sauce. The sauce turned out to be perfect! Just a hint of heat (perfect for a party) and the perfect consistency. This is a mighty fine wing sauce, and boy, the price was right!

Kroger Mild Buffalo Wings

The Perfect Sauce For Party Wings

If you by chance end up with any leftover Kroger mild Buffalo wing sauce, toss it in the fridge. Make sure you warm it a bit (at least to room temperature) before using it on your next batch of wings. Nothing makes hot wings sad faster than tossing them in cold wing sauce!

You’ll want to make some Kroger parmesan garlic wings too!

Moore’s Asian Teriyaki Wings

Whoa back up the truck to teriyaki yumminess! We both loved the heck out Moore’s Asian Teriyaki wing sauce. Though the bottle says you can use the sauce on anything from vegetables to stir-fry to whatever, the sauce was amazing on wings. Not overly sweet as teriyaki sauce can sometimes be. Not overloaded with soy sauce or ginger. Just flat-out perfect teriyaki flavors.

Moore's Asian Teriyaki Wings

Don’t Drown Your Wings

I made sure to not overly sauce my wings. Some places you buy wings at like to bury their wings in sauce, usually to hide skimpy thin wings. Not me. I use the big wings and I want to taste the wings too, not just the sauce. Even if that sauce is delicious like Moore’s Asian Teriyaki wing sauce!

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Also try some delicious Moore’s blue cheese Buffalo wings.

Melinda’s Thai Sweet Chili Sauce Wings

This sauce looked great just sitting in the bottle. It tasted even better. Slightly sweet, with just a hint of heat and garlic, Melinda’s Thai Sweet chili wings are finger-licking good. I call it a ‘happy’ sauce because I was definitely happy after finishing off a batch of lunchtime wings tossed in it.

Melinda's Thai Sweet Chili Sauce Wings

Ok, Yes, I Use It For Nuggets Too

Though I am pretty much a wing-sauce-is-for-wings kind of guy, when I run across a sauce this good I will also use it on other dishes. It is also great for dipping chicken nuggets or fingers, and it’s great on grilled chicken sandwiches too. Anywhere you’d normally use chili sauce, use this instead! Give it a try and you’ll love it too!

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Prefer a little spiciness instead? Try Melinda’s creamy style habanero wings.

Market District Zesty Dill Pickle Wings

These Market District Zesty Dill Pickle wing sauce wings are… dill-icious! There, I said it. I knew I would. The name says it all. Zesty. Dill. Pickle. They aren’t lying, nope. I’m a huge fan of dill pickles, especially the juice left in the jars after I devour all of the pickles. Boy does it ever make for good chicken wing marinade! But I digress! Now I can get all of that great dill flavor, now in a bottled wing sauce that is yummy creamy to boot!!

Market District Zesty Dill Pickle Wings

Different. And Very Good.

There’s no mistaking the dill flavor in the Market District Zesty Dill Pickle wing sauce. That’s what we’re here for, right? We didn’t pick up a bottle of this sauce expecting Thai-inspired flavors. Or traditional Buffalo wing flavors. Nope, we’re here for that in-your-face dill and vinegar flavor that we all know and love! Get you some, fellow pickle lovers!

Meijer Korean BBQ Style Wings

We live in Meijer country. Which is a good thing because I love the bottled wing sauces from Meijer . I first bought them when they were on sale, as sort of a trial run. Now I’ll pick some up any time I’m at the store. Like all of their sauces,  Meijer Korean BBQ style wing sauce is mighty darned tasty. American BBQ sauces are vinegar- or tomato-based. Korean BBQ sauces are soy sauce-based. The sauce has the perfect consistency, sticking to the wings but not glopping up. Too thick is not a good thing when it comes to wing sauces. Neither is too thin.

Meijer Korean BBQ Style Wings

Sweet, Savory and a little Spicy

Korean BBQ actually means a way of preparing meats. Here in the US we’ve associated the terms with flavors. That flavor is a little sweet, a little savory and just a bit spicy. Meijer Korean BBQ style wing sauce is not only great on wings, either. It’s fantastic on smoked ribs, grilled burgers, or my other favorite, grilled chicken breast sandwiches.

Also try some Meijer mango habanero wings!
