You know this isn’t my first rodeo. I make a lot of wings. And I sauce a lot of them with BBQ sauces. And some of those BBQ sauces are fruity. Like maybe even too fruity sometimes. Well, let me tell you folks, this right here is BBQ sauce heaven. Goodness. Yes, even greatness. Da Kine Hawaiian BBQ sauce wings are excellent. The sauce is the winner here. It is just sweet enough. And smoky enough. The addition of pineapple is noticeable, pleasant, and definitely not overpowering. Sure, you might normally buy a bottle of this sauce for a pork dish, like smoked ribs, but on wings it’s beyond fantastic.

Make Some Wings

I can’t say it really matters how you cook your wings. The sauce is the boss here. Just don’t make any wings that are overly spiced. You don’t want the wing seasoning to fight with this great sauce. So go easy with it and enjoy your Da Kine Hawaiian BBQ sauce wings. And yeah, lick your fingers. It’s ok. In fact, it’s required.

If you’re grabbing a bottle of the sauce out of the fridge, ready to sauce your wings, don’t. Don’t put that cold sauce on your hot, cooked wings. No. Set that sauce out for an hour before serving so it comes to room temperature. No hot wing deserves a cold sauce. Ever.

Japanese Barbecue Sauce Wings

Japanese Barbecue Sauce makes me sad. Sad that I went so long before buying a bottle and squeezing it onto some wings, that is! My goodness me is this ever good stuff! I mean crazy good. Lightly sweet and lightly salty, it’s what teriyaki sauce wishes it could be. I cannot stop eating wings covered in this sauce. And I’m not afraid to admit it, I double-sauced my wings.

Japanese Barbecue Sauce Wings

“Oh. My. Goodness.” Good.

Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue sauce is a little on the thin side. Normally that would be a minus on wings. You won’t want your sauce to end up at the bottom of your plate, you need it to stick to your wings. Well, this sauce has so much fantastic flavor that you don’t need it to be super thick. Not at all. If you want, do like I do and put a small bowl of extra sauce on the side for dipping. You won’t regret it.

Frank’s RedHot Squeeze Creamy Buffalo Sauce Wings

Here’s how you become a legend in the wing world. First, you start with a fantastic Buffalo sauce. Then you ‘creamy-ize’ it, making it smooth with the perfect consistency. Then you put into a squeeze bottle so people can squirt it onto wings, fries, sandwiches… everything. I sure hope someone at Frank’s RedHot now has a ‘legend’ sign on their office door. Fajita Seasoned Dry Wings

It really doesn’t take much to make totally different-tasting wings. If you’re looking for something new, just take a gander thru your pantry or spice cabinet and grab whatever seasoning you like. Chances are it’ll make for great wings, just like these fajita seasoned dry wings. Heck, it can’t get any easier. I just cooked up a batch of wings (in the air fryer this time) and then tossed them in the seasoning.

I grabbed a pre-made packet at my local grocery store for my fajita seasoned dry wings. You could make your own, for sure. Usually fajita seasoning contains a bit of sugar. You gotta watch it if you plan on using it to season or dry brining your wings before cooking. You don’t want it to burn!

Tabasco Buffalo Style Sauce Wings

Everyone knows that TABASCO knows hot sauce. Their name is synonymous with great flavor and great heat. They’ve been around for 5 generations and there’s a reason for that. Now they’ve gone and made what I think it easily one of the best Buffalo-inspired sauces ever. A simple batch of wings topped with this sauce is no longer simple. It’s amazing. These Tabasco Buffalo Style sauce wings are fantastic. Easily one of my favorites.

Amazing Pepper Flavor

There’s something so special about this sauce. It’s the oak-aged mash for sure. And the tremendous peppers. Together, with a little vinegar, salt and garlic, they make these Tabasco Buffalo style sauce wings amazing. I cannot get over how much I loved the flavor. Yes, there’s a bit of heat. But not much. I’d call it mild. You don’t need a lot of heat here. You’ve got tremendous flavor. Enjoy. I sure did!

Deep-Fried Pork Panko Wings

It’s not so much that I was seeking out a low-carb alternative to my deep-fried wing recipes. I don’t usually coat my wings so heavily that carbs are something I consider. But I was looking for something different. Pork panko, well, that’s different so that’s how I ended up here. Deep-fried pork panko wings are just like the ‘regular’ panko ones, just low-carb and I would actually say they are a bit better.

As you might expect the flavor of the pork rinds makes these deep-fried pork panko wings a bit different than their bread flake-breaded cousins. I think the coating is also a bit moister, juicier. I’d serve these and watch people take that first bite, expecting the ‘usual’ bread or panko flavor and texture. Then spring the news on them! It’s pork rinds! Oh my!

Deep-Fried Pork Panko Wings

Instructions

  • Heat 3-4" of oil to 350 F in a deep-fryer or Dutch oven.
  • Rinse the chicken and pat somewhat dry. Place in a large bowl.
  • Combine the breading ingredients in a small bowl. Make sure you get out any lumps.
  • Sprinkle breading ingredients over the wings. Using your hands, roll the wings in the breading, coating well.
  • Working in batches if needed, fry the wings until done, 8-10 minutes. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack-lined pan to drain.
  • Serve with any wing sauce on the side for dipping. I recommend against tossing the wings in sauce as the breading will tend to come off.

Note: You may want to double the breading ingredients if you prefer to have your wings more heavily coated.

Fire-Eater Rub and Seasoning

Fire-eater rub and seasoning is by far my favorite kicked-up rub and all-purpose seasoning. It has the wonderful flavor of celery seed. I am a little heavy-handed with the celery seed. Don’t be afraid to cut back on it a bit if you’re not quite the celery seed enthusiast that I am. And it has a fantastic bit of heat. A good amount of heat actually. Hence the name.

Fire-Eater Rub and Seasoning

A Pantry Staple

Fire-Eater rub and seasoning is a must-have for your pantry. I always have a big batch on hand. I use it to make my habanero wings, among many others. Because this seasoning does not contain any sugar I can use it on wings before I cook them, too. Things like an air fryer or grill will burn rubs that contain sugar.

I like to make my spice, rub and seasoning mixes in big batches and keep them in large bottles with easy-to-pour shaker lids.

I admit, sometimes I need a little something to help cool off my spicy wings. That usually means Ranch dressing. Maybe blue cheese. I use these little sauce dipping cups. They’re the perfect size for dipping things like wings, nuggets, tenders, veggies, you name it. And they’re crazy easy to clean up too!
