Schnucks Medium Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

We recently took a few days off and drove from Indiana into Illinois. Our trip was centered around hitting a few antique malls around Bloomington, IL. But, as luck would have it, our hotel was right by a Schnucks a regional grocery store. I knew exactly that that meant: regional grocery store wing sauces! Woo hoo! The last day of our trip we stopped by the store at around 7am. We were the only ones there. I grabbed a bottle of each and every wing sauce they had. The checkout lady must’ve thought I was nuts. When we got home, I got to making wings. And boy, what a great time it was too! My Schnucks medium Buffalo wing sauce wings hit the spot. What a great sauce! And at a great price, too!

Schnucks Medium Buffalo Sauce Wings

What It’s About

There’s nothing fancy going on with these Schnucks Medium Buffalo wing sauce wings. I made a batch of wings. I tossed them in the sauce. Then, I enjoyed the heck out of them. Great spice level for starters. Not too hot, by any stretch. Just a little heat in the background. Great Buffalo-inspired flavors. Not overly vinegar-y either.

I love buying regional wing sauces. Grocery stores, bars, restaurants. Doesn’t matter where they come from. I rarely have encountered one I didn’t love. Schnuck’s sauces are no exception. Grab yourself some. You’ll be happy you did!

Also heat-up and try some hot Schnucks Buffalo wing sauce wings!

Brownwood Farms Slatherin’ Wings

Oh, how I love Brownwood Farms Slatherin’ wing sauce. I’m not always a big mustard-sauce fan, some are a bit too mustardy for me. But not this sauce. This is spot-on great mustard flavor here. And all in a nice and creamy sauce with just a bit of spiciness. It’s a rich, deeply flavored sauce that makes for the perfect batch of wings.

Brownwood Farms Slatherin Wings

The Perfect Mustardy Balance

I can’t wait to make another batch of wings and toss them with Brownwood Farms Slatherin’ wing sauce. And, I also cannot wait to slather this sauce on grilled chicken breasts, or better, a whole grilled spatchcocked chicken. I can also see this sauce on a future grilled or smoked rack of ribs. Along with great flavor, this sauce has the perfect consistency so I don’t have to worry about it not sticking to my next grilled dish!

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Bone Suckin’ Honey and Habanero Wing Sauce Wings

Oh, give me more! I want more Bone Suckin’ Honey and Habanero wing sauce wings! I can’t get enough of this stuff. Boy, I thought I was in love with Bone Suckin’ Sauce. But, that affection was nothing like what I have for this slightly sweet, reasonably spicy wing sauce. This stuff is downright delicious and just a bit dangerous. What a wonderful combination of flavors this is. Woo me I’m a happy guy now!

Bone Suckin' Honey and Habanero Wings

This is My Kind of Sauce

Like their BBQ sauce, Bone Suckin’ Honey and Habanero wing sauce is a thick, stick-to-your-meat sauce. It’s not going to run off an end up at the bottom of your plate. That also makes it great as a BBQ sauce itself. Just like it’s bigger brother, slather this wing sauce on ribs, burgers, and grilled chicken. You’ll love it!

I also enjoyed this sauce on side for dipping homemade, deep-fried chicken tenders and nuggets. No wimpy dipping sauce for me!

Blues Hog Wild Wings

You take a look at the ingredients list for Blues Hog Wild wings sauce and you’d think that just about everything imaginable is in it. Hot sauce, Ranch, lemon juice, BBQ sauce, Cajun seasoning… the list goes on. And somehow, all of those flavors come together in what is one wildly different and very good wing sauce. Every bite I took I’d taste something different. I’d get the Cajun seasoning. Then I’d get the BBQ. And more. And more. It’s complex and delicious and one of my favorites.

Blues Hog Wild Wings

An Over-The-Top Great Sauce

Blues Hog Wild wings sauce made me think of southern-inspired flavors. The hot sauce isn’t too hot, but it’s there. The BBQ sauce is smoky, but not in-your-face. The vinegar’s not too strong. In the end nothing is really front-and-center, but there’s so many flavors that it’s kind of like an adventure with each bite you take.

This sauce comes in a big, heavy duty squeeze bottle that is great to keep around after you’ve used it up. I keep one full of oil to use on my grill.

Also try Brownwood Farm’s Slatherin’ wings. They’re mighty tasty too!

Four Sixes Salt Creek Hot Sauce Wings

A plate of wings? A plate of wings?!? What was I thinking when I only made a plate of these Four Sixes Salt Creek hot sauce wings? I should’ve made a bucket of wings! A simple combination of hot sauce and butter made for some of the best finger-lickingly great wings I’ve had. The sauce has just the right amount of heat. It is seasoned perfectly. Nothing too strong, but just right all-around.

Four Sixes Salt Creek Hot Sauce Wings

Heat. Your Way.

A bottle of hot sauce and a little butter make for a great wing sauce. Nice thing is you can adjust the heat to whatever level you want. Some days I want my wings hot. Blazing hot. Then I use very little butter. Enough for a taste. Some days I want my wings a bit more mellow. Those days I use more butter. It’s just that easy. These Four Sixes Salt Creek Hot Sauce wings were easy. And delicious.

This recipe is based on my two ingredient wing sauce recipe. It’s my go-to method for making a wing sauce with hot sauce and butter.

Roasted Red Chile Wings

One of the things I love about being addicted to cooking and eating chicken wings is that 99 times out of 100, every new recipe I try is just absolutely fantastic. I dream about chicken wings. A lot. And these roasted red chile wings, well, they were crazy good and certainly dream-worthy.

I love chile peppers for the pepper flavor. And although I also love spicy, my number one love is that great pepper flavor, and the roasted red chile jelly from Albukirky Seasonings brings that and then some without scary spiciness.

Roasted Red Chile Wings

Great Rubs… And Sauces, Too!

The Albukirky Seasonings red chile BBQ rub (and also the green chile BBQ rub) has quickly become my go-to wing rub. It’s just perfect on wings (and other things, too, but I really, really enjoy it on wings). Combined with the red chile jelly (which I thinned just a bit) the roasted red chile wings made for a lunch that I won’t soon forget, but I will soon make again.

Also try my roasted green chile wings.

Secret Aardvark Habanero Wings

As soon as I saw a squeeze bottle of Secret Aardvark habanero sauce in the grocery store I knew it would make for the best wing sauce. Oh, yes, it’s great on and in a lot of recipes, for sure. But on wings, it’s crazy good. And darned spicy for that matter. It isn’t messing around when it comes to the heat. It also has a fantastic consistency to it. It’s not too thin or thick. It sticks to your wings. And your fingers. You taste tomato, onion, carrots… and definitely habanero. Make a wing sauce with it and you’ll be just as pleased as I was!

Secret Aardvark Habanero Wings

Grown Up Flavor For Grown Up Tastes

Secret Aardvark habanero wings are what Buffalo wings want to be like when they grow up. Oh, ain’t nothing wrong with Buffalo wings, not at all. But for something a bit different, and definitely a bit spicier, try this sauce on wings and you’ll love it.

Shore Lunch Spicy Buffalo Fried Wings

These Shore Lunch Spicy Buffalo fried wings are dangerously close to being ‘just’ fried chicken. But, oh my goodness me, let me tell you just how great these wings are. The breading is out-of-this-world fantastic. Such a wonderful crunch and seasoned to absolute perfection. With a nice essence of Buffalo Wing flavor and spiciness. Not overpowering, but there. These wings are truly epic. I could eat these little beauties all day long and that’s no lie! For more Buffalo wing-inspired goodness, drizzle the wings with Buffalo sauce right before serving, or serve some on the side for dipping!

Add Sauce. If You Want To.

For more Buffalo flavor, toss (gently) your Shore Lunch Spicy Buffalo fried wings in some good ole Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Wing sauce.

You can also serve your favorite sauce on the side and dip the wings. That’ll help keep that crunchy delicious batter in place.

Spicy Kentuckyaki Sauce Wings

I made a batch of ‘regular’ Kentuckyaki sauce wings the other day and thought that they were easily some of the best wings I’ve ever had. Except one little thing. I wanted a bit more kick. Some heat. Oh gosh, don’t get me wrong the non-spicy version was spectacular and I’d make and eat them all day long. But it was time for some spicy Kentuckyaki sauce wings. And they did not disappoint.

Lick The Plate Delicious

I can’t get over how much I enjoyed these spicy Kentuckyaki sauce wings. The perfect balance of sweet and heat. With a wonderful bourbon twist. A hint. Just right. Asian-inspired flavors that make you want to not only lick your fingers, but the plate too.

I picked up this sauce and its non-spicy partner at the Kentucky Artisan Center on I-75 in Berea, KY. It’s a great place to stop to find arts, crafts, sauces and even grab a great breakfast or lunch!

Go Easy, My Friend

I’m always leery of tossing deep-fried wings in sauce. You have to be gentle or that crunchy coating you worked so hard to get comes flying off. I recommend either drizzling the wings first and gently stirring with a spatula or brushing the sauce on. You can also just serve the sauce on the side for dipping.

Instructions

For the sauce

  • Heat 2-3" of oil in a deep-fryer or Dutch oven. While it's warming up, make the sauce.
  • In a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat, add the Kentuckyaki sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar and hot sauce. Stir.
  • In a small glass or bowl, mix the corn starch and water together. I like to use a fork for this. Make sure you get them well-combined.
  • Let the sauce come to a boil. Whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Continue whisking while the sauce thickens, another 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let sit while you make the wings. Note: If the sauce gets too thick as it sets, whisk in a teaspoon or two of warm water to thin it.

For the wings

  • Place the flour in a large bowl. Stir in the salt and pepper.
  • Working in batches if needed, add the wings to the flour and coat well. Turn them several times, making sure you get the wings covered in flour.
  • Shake off any excess flour and add to the hot oil. Deep fry 7-10 minutes or until the wings hit 165 F. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack over a baking sheet to drain.
  • Transfer wings to a large bowl. Drizzle with the sauce. Using a spatula, turn the wings to coat well. Click here for our guide on how to sauce your wings.
  • Remove wings to a platter and serve.

Thai Place Wing Sauce Wings

This right here is why I love (absolutely love!) buying wing sauces from small, non-chain (or at least, regional chain) restaurants and bars. That’s where I often find the best flavors. These Thai Place wing sauce wings are a huge winner. I mean huge. All from a Thai restaurant in Pittsburgh, that has, sadly, closed, but you can still find their wing sauce in stores! I found it in Jungle Jim’s outside of Cincinnati. And boy am I ever glad that I did! This sauce is has hints of soy sauce. It’s sweet for sure. And there’s a little heat kind just hovering around in the background. Not upfront so it’ll bite you, but it’s there.

Thai Place Wing Sauce Wings

Make Some Wings!

There’s no need to over-complicate this situation. Make some wings. Doesn’t really matter how. I went with air-fried wings. You can go with baked. Grilled. Whatever. Even store-bought frozen ones (plain, of course). Just get ’em done and get them in this sauce. You’re gonna enjoy these Thai Place wing sauce wings no matter how the wings are made. The sauce is definitely the star of this show.

Make sure you get extra bottles of the sauce. It’s great on smoked (or grilled) ribs too!
