Lillie’s Q White Wing Sauce Wings

The more and more Lillie’s Q white wing sauce I eat, the more I love it. That’s not to say it’s growing on me. I loved it right out of the bottle the first time. It’s just that I keep finding it to be even more enjoyable on each and every batch of wings that I make. It’s got a great spice level. A bit of a kick. Enough to make my lips tingle. It has a slight vinegar flavor, like any Alabama white sauce-like sauce. But it’s not overpowering. It’s creamy, mayonnaise-like, but it doesn’t taste like mayonnaise. It’s different and it’s great!

Lillie's Q White Wings

Thick And Ready To Do The Job

Lillie’s Q white wing sauce is thick. It’s a bit hard to get it out of the glass (yes! glass! Thank you!) bottle. Give it a good shake before using it. And I don’t mean one of those ‘shake-shake-done’ things. Shake it like you mean it. And don’t be shy with it. It kind of ‘melts’ as you put it on your wings. If you go super light you might not see it. Not that it won’t be there. You’ll get the heat.

Wing-Time Thai Chili Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

I, like a lot of people, am a big fan of the Buffalo wing sauces from Wing-Time. They’re creamy, delicious, and come in different heat levels so they’re great for anyone and any occasion. So I was excited when I came across the Wing-Time Thai Chili Buffalo wing sauce in the grocery store. But, honestly, the first taste killed that excitement pretty quick. For a Buffalo sauce, this is another great sauce. But I got no Thai Chili flavor at all. I tried, too. I even asked others to taste it. Nothing. What happened? I don’t know. So, good Buffalo sauce, but not a Thai Chili sauce in my opinion.

Wing-Time Thai Chili Buffalo Wings

I’m Kinda Sad. Actually, I Am Sad.

I couldn’t find any contact info for Wing-Time online. Their website is gone. Their Facebook page is inactive. Fortunately, though, the manufacturer of their sauces, Allied Old English, is still around (but didn’t respond to a DM on FB). Boy, I sure hope this means that their sauces will still be available online and in stores. I also hope that my experience with the Wing-Time Thai Chili Buffalo wing sauce was a fluke! Because I sure do love their other sauces. Maybe my bottle got mis-labelled!

Aji Amarillo Wings

Aji amarillo is an orange-colored pepper from Peru. I haven’t been able to find it in the US in pepper-form, but you can find a paste made from pureed aji peppers in some foreign food markets. Aji amarillo rates between 35,000 and 50,000 on the Scoville scale, meaning it’s about as hot as Tabasco sauce. It has a nice fruity flavor that reminds me a bit of habanero, but without the scorching heat. I encountered aji amarillo often in dishes throughout Peru when I lived there long, long ago.

Aji Amarillo Wings

Aji pepper flavor

Since I love chicken wings, I decided to cook up a batch and instead of saucing them with just a traditional Buffalo sauce, I made a variation that adds aji amarillo paste. The end result was just a bit spicy, with a fantastic fruity pepper flavor.

Kick it up!

These were fantastic wings, and definitely a nice twist on the usual. If you like your wings to be a bit spicier, just add more of the aji amarillo paste. Since it’s not overwhelmingly hot you don’t have to worry about a-little-goes-a-long-ways: you can add quite a bit and still get great flavor without burning the roof of your mouth.

Melinda’s Creamy Style Habanero Wing Sauce Wings

Heat and flavor need not be separate things. Melinda’s Creamy Style Habanero wing sauce wings bring that kick and then some, and all with some delicious pepper taste to boot. Cayenne and habaneros are combined to make this a sauce you won’t soon forget. I consider these to be Buffalo wings on steroids. The bottle says the spice level is 3 out of 5. I was thinking they might be pretty close to a 4….

Melinda's Creamy Style Habanero Wings

A Spicy Sauce With A Lot Of Flavor

Melinda’s Creamy Style Habanero wing sauce isn’t just for wings. Keep it on hand for any time you need a hot sauce, especially one with a lot of kick. Any hot sauce. For anything. But it’s really fantastic on wings, so don’t forget about them!

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Legend Larry’s Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce Wings

There are a good number of garlic Parmesan wing sauces on the market. I knew that the one from Legend Larry’s would stand above the crowd. All of their wing sauces do. This sauce is just the right consistency. With just the right balance of garlic and Parmesan, with a hint of black pepper. It’s herbaceous, not wimpy.

Legend Larry's Garlic Parmesan Wings

Oh. So. Good. A Wonderful Wing Sauce

Legend Larry’s garlic Parmesan wing sauce hit the spot on my wings. But with that first bite I knew it’d also be great on more. I could definitely see using it on a salad as dressing. Or on pasta. Or as a chicken marinade. It’s got the right flavor and can be used on a lot of dishes, but it really shines the best on wings!

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Kosmos Q Seven Pepper Face Lift Dry Wings

You probably don’t need me to tell you that there’s a lot of pepper in this seasoning. Kosmos Q Seven Pepper Face Lift dry wings are crazy good, but I gotta warn you. It opens up with a kick. It’ll wake you up, but an instant later you get nothing but fantastic peppery flavor. I mean, really good. After a few bites I was all about that heat and pepper and couldn’t get enough. But I admit, that first kick was … a kick!

Kosmos Q Seven Pepper Face Lift Dry Wings

The Label Does Say Pepper…

If you’re a tad shy about heat I’d recommend going light on the Kosmos Q Seven Pepper Face Lift dry wing seasoning the first time. And I don’t recommend sticking your finger into the bag the first time you open it to get a big ole taste. I paid for that. But, the heat does go away pretty quick, fortunately for me.

Make sure you seal your wing seasonings well after using. You don’t want any moisture sneaking in. Kosmos Q comes in quality pouches that seal perfectly!

Melinda’s Creamy Style Ghost Pepper Wing Sauce Wings

There’s no denying it. Melinda’s Creamy Style Ghost pepper wing sauce is HOT. I do mean spicy, tingle-my-lips hot. But it’s a good burn. I’m not one of those guys that’s in a constant search for the latest, hottest sauce. I like a bit of a kick, and a lot of flavor. Well, this sauce has a lot of both. If you’re looking for a sauce that’ll wake you up and still tastes fantastic, grab a bottle. Use a little (like I did) or a lot (if you’re into heat!).

Melinda's Creamy Style Ghost Pepper Wings

Sure, It’s Spicy. But It’s Oh So Good, Too!

If you’re afraid of the heat, just do like I did and just toss a few wings with just a bit of the sauce for starters. Take a few bites and see where you are. After that initial kick I found myself liking the sauce more and more and more. So I added some more sauce. The combination of ghost, habanero and cayenne peppers makes for a wonderful sauce.

Hooter’s Hot Wing Sauce Wings

This is what wings are all about. These Hooter’s hot wing sauce wings (deep fried as they should be!) are as close to the real thing as you can get. Lightly crunchy, super tasty breading. Nicely spicy Buffalo wing sauce. No pain here, just great hot wings. This is not a copycat recipe. These wings are made with the same breading and sauce you can order online or pick up in the retail section at any Hooter’s. Get some, make these wings, and be happy!

Hooter's Hot Wings

Beyond Great

I fry up my Hooter’s hot wing sauce wings 6 or so at a time in a Fry Daddy fryer. It makes perfect wings. Only downside is you can’t select the cook temperature, so I end up cooking my wings a bit longer since the oil is around 325 F. Still it makes for great wings in no time with a lot less oil than if I’d used my big restaurant-style fryer!

If you like to serve your Hooter’s Hot wings with carrots and celery on the side, I recommend that you take a vegetable peeler to remove the outer strings. The celery is oh so much more tender without those pesky things!

Also try some Hooter’s medium wing sauce wings for a little less heat!

Ranch Dipping Sauce

If you’re looking for a Ranch dipping sauce that is packed with that classic flavor, has the perfect consistency, and also has just a bit of a tanginess to it, then look no further. This easy-to-put-together sauce can be made in a convenient cup-sized quantity or can be easily scaled up for a party.

Ranch Dipping Sauce

Give It A Rest

You definitely want to rest the Ranch dipping sauce in the fridge overnight. And even two nights if possible. It’s definitely better the longer it goes, but I’m not saying it’s not great that same day either! But if you have the time, let it go a bit.

I got these cute lil sauce dipping cups for serving. They not only look good they help me control myself around anything Ranch-related.

This sauce is perfectly for dipping some habanero wings. It helps to cool the burn.

Wing-A-Lings Rub Dry Wings

Oh you delicious dry rubbed wings, you! Crunchy skin, juicy, tender meat… and flavor! Oh that delicious seasoning! Thanks to Wing-A-Lings rub, these dry wings are fantastically yummy. Smoked paprika, oregano, a bit of chili powder and garlic and just a bit of red pepper for a mild kick, this is the perfect dry seasoning for your wings. Just cook them up, and toss them in a little or a lot of rub, and enjoy!

Wing-A-Lings Rub Dry Wings

A Wonderfully Yummy Seasoning

The folks at Wing-A-Lings have lots of seasonings, and this chicken wing rub is definitely one of my favorites. Before I started this blog and before I became a total wing-aholic, I ran into the Wing-A-Ling food trailer at an event at Jungle Jim’s outside of Cincinnati. That did it for me. I’d never had anything ‘but’ Buffalo wings (which I love and crave) until then. The seasonings expanded my wing horizons, and helped start me on my wing journey! Wing-A-Lings rub dry wings are great reason why I keep enjoying wings.
