Kirkwood Buffalo Style Chicken Wings

I’m a fresh wing kinda guy. Usually. Sometimes I don’t have time to prepare wings from scratch. Or worse, I can’t find fresh wings in my grocery store. Or I just want to try something new. I was in Aldi the other day, picking up fresh wings (they have great fresh wings). I decided to check out the freezer cases before I headed to the checkout. And there they were. Kirkwood Buffalo style chicken wings. They looked good. I bought them. And I made them. And you know what? They were good!

Kirkwood Buffalo Style Chicken Wings

Actual Wings. No Weird Stuff.

I’ve purchased some weird looking frozen wings. They were pre-battered, like these. But they didn’t look like wings. Kirkwood Buffalo style chicken wings are pre-battered. And they look like wings. Because they are actual wings. They’re sauced just right, in a sauce with good Buffalo flavor and a hint of heat. They’re meaty. I liked them. A lot.

Seven Servings. LOL.

The 22 ounce bag of wings I bought said it was 7 servings. Maybe somewhere in an alternate universe of really tiny people. Not me. I’d call them 4 servings at most. If you’re having a big party and need a bunch of wings, these are going to go over great. Just make sure you buy more than you think you’ll need. They’re good and people will want more. You bet I did.

I baked my wings on a silicone mat. I tried what the instructions on the bag stated and sprayed a baking pan with non-stick spray, but found that the wings still stuck. The silicone mat was much better.

I like to use these little dipping cups for my wing dipping sauce. These Buffalo wings are great with a little blue cheese or ranch dressing!

Also try some Perdue roasted crispy air fryer wings.

Kirkwood Buffalo Style Chicken Wings

Great Buffalo flavored wings!
Prep Time5 minutes

Keyword: baked wings
Servings: 4
Calories: 187kcal

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • If you have a silicone baking mat, line a baking sheet with the mat and add the wings. If you do not have a silicone baking mat, liberally spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray and add the wings. I prefer to start with the bone-side of the wings down (for flats). For the drums it doesn't matter.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. Gently turn the wings. I use a fork or rubber spatula for this. I've found that tongs will tend to tear the coating/skin if the wings stick any.
  • Bake another 10-15 minutes or until turning lightly golden in color and the wings internal temperature is 165 F.
  • Let the wings rest for 5 minutes before serving. They will still be piping hot so be careful!

Notes

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce on the side, if desired.

Copycat Wingstop Lemon Pepper Wings

Yowsa. I bit into these copycat Wingstop Lemon Pepper wings thinking that’d be good, sure. But I had no idea how much I’d really like them. Crunchy, crispy skin. Not overly battered. Not too much like grandma’s fried chicken. The sauce, easy as heck to make, did me in. I mean, seriously, it’s just butter and lemon pepper seasoning but it was gooood! I loved it. It’s definitely finger-licking good and then some!

Lemon Pepper And Butter: The Perfect Combination

When I make these copycat Wingstop Lemon Pepper wings again (which will be soon), I’m adding more lemon pepper seasoning. No, this isn’t the first time I’ve used it, but for some reason, I found the combination of the lemony goodness and butter to make for some super-great wings.

Air Fryer Holy Voodoo Dry Wings

Grillers and BBQ smokers all over tout how great Meat Church’s seasonings are. Me, I always make wings first with any new seasoning I pick up. I don’t sauce them. I don’t bury them in other flavors. My favorite is making dry wings. And I found these air fryer Holy Voodoo dry wings to be absolutely delicious! The seasoning is slight sweet with both white and brown sugar. It’s a bit salty, but I do tend to like salty seasonings. And it’s just a tad spicy.

Air Fryer Holy Voodoo Wings

Double-Seasoned

I season my air fryer Holy Voodoo dry wings a bit before putting them into the air fryer. Now, because of the sugars in the seasoning I don’t go nuts with it. But I want that flavor before to be added before and after cooking the wings. You can actually skip this step but.. why?

Try all of the seasonings from Meat Church on wings. Or whatever you’re cooking.

There’s nothing fancy about the air fryer that I use. But it works great on wings. I use it a lot. And I do mean a lot. Mostly for wings. I know. Shocking. Cleanup is fairly easy. It easily holds enough wings for two people. Or one me when I’m really wing-hungry.

I love using my air fryer for wings. Checkout some of my favorite wing recipes, all made using an air fryer.

Air Fryer Holy Voodoo Dry Wings

Sweet, salty and just spicy enough!
Prep Time30 minutes
Cook Time30 minutes
Total Time1 hour
Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: American
Keyword: air fryer, wings
Servings: 1
Calories: 13kcal

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Season the wings with the Meat Church Holy Voodoo seasoning. Don't go crazy with it as the high heat from the air fryer can burn the sugars. You want enough to taste the great flavors, but don't drown the wings in it.
  • Place wings in fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Lightly spray the basket of your air fryer with non-stick spray. Preheat per manufacturer's recommendation to 350 F.
  • Add the wings to the basket (be careful it's hot!).
  • Cook wings for 12 minutes.
  • Flip the wings and cook another 12 minutes.
  • Increase the air fryer temperature to 400 F and cook another 6 minutes.
  • Remove wings from fryer and place in a bowl. Toss with more seasoning, to taste. Now's a good time to not be shy with the seasoning.
  • Let cool slightly (the wings will crisp as they cool) then serve.

Notes

Note: The full 30 minute cook time is for large, meaty wings. If your wings are a bit thinner (er… scrawny) back the times down to 10/10/4 minutes instead of 12/12/6 minutes.

Simple Truth Organic Mild Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

I wanted to like all of the wing sauces from Simple Truth, Kroger’s line of organic products. But I could not bring myself to do it. I missed flavor. I wanted more. And, I wanted thicker. Sorry, but these Simple Truth Organic Mild Buffalo wing sauce wings just didn’t quite get it for me. They were close, and they weren’t bad, they just didn’t wow me.

Simple Truth Organic Mild Buffalo Wings

Well… They Aren’t Perfect…

I suppose I should cut these Simple Truth Organic Mild Buffalo wing sauce wings a bit of slack. The sauce does have nothing but good ingredients in it, and you can’t fault that. But oh, do I wish it was thicker and had more flavor. Then I would’ve been happy. Right now, well, I’m kind of sad.

Tellin’ It Like I See It

This blog isn’t all about the sauces I love. That’s why I posted this. Heck, you might look at it and give it a try, and love it. If you do, that’s great! Let me know and I’ll be happy to post an opposing review.

Four Sixes Top Hand Hickory BBQ Sauce Wings

If you watch the TV series Yellowstone you’ve heard of Four Sixes. Now the famous Texas ranch has put out a line of BBQ sauces and seasonings and all sorts of stuff. Me, I got wings on my mind and not horses, so I grabbed a bottle of all of their sauces at my local grocery store and got to making me some hand-held grub. These Four Sixes Top Hand Hickory BBQ sauce wings hit the spot. Heck, I even thought for a moment there I was gathered around the chuck wagon on a hot Texas evening after a long day of cow herdin’. Good ole BBQ flavor. Lightly smoky. Lightly sweet. And just darned good.

Four Sixes Top Hand Hickory BBQ Wings

Get To Saucin’

I gotta admit, I’m not into lightly saucing my wings when it comes to BBQ sauce. Especially when it’s as good as this sauce is. So I cook up my wings. However I want. Sometimes it’s over an open fire like cowboys would. Or in an air fryer, like no cowboy would. Then I toss or brush them with sauce. Lots of sauce. I like my Four Sixes Top Hand Hickory BBQ wings saucy!

Ranch on the Ranch

I kinda get the feelin’ that cowboys don’t carry around bottles of Ranch dressing while they’re working the herds. But I gotta have Ranch with my BBQ wings. I love that combination of cool Ranch and sweet bold BBQ. So if I was a cowboy, I’d hide a bottle under my saddle. Well, maybe not. Nobody likes hot Ranch.

Also try you some Four Sixes Straight Sixes Spicy BBQ sauce wings, pardner!

Air Fryer Maple Wings

Yowsa. Now we’re talking about some seriously devour-worthy wings. These air fryer maple wings are beyond finger-lickingly good. As soon as I took my first bite I instantly regretted not making more wings and sauce. The wings are your standard air fryer wings. A little seasoning and cooked until the skin is crispy. The sauce, though, is the star of the show. The right sweetness. The right umami thing. And just a kiss of heat. These are great wings!

Step Up Your Teriyaki Game

You can use whatever teriyaki sauce you like to make these air fryer maple wings. But for me, my go-to teriyaki sauce is from the fine folks over at Bourbon Barrel Food. They have two versions actually. The Kentuckyaki sauce is a wonderfully bourbon-infused sauce that has such a great, deep flavor. It’s great anywhere I need a teriyaki sauce. And of course their spicy version is … spicier! It also makes for a great sauce for these wings!

Hoosier Daddy Smokehouse Hickory with Lime BBQ Sauce Wings

Oh, I already knew about BBQ sauced-wings. Trust me. But what I didn’t know is that I needed a hint of lime in my BBQ sauce. I had no idea. But oh does it make a difference. Just enough to offset the sweetness. You still get a wonderfully smoky, just-the-right-thickness sauce. But with something special. A wonderful twist. I could eat these Hoosier Daddy Smokehouse Hickory with lime BBQ sauce wings all day long. They are finger-licking good. This sauce is amazing.

Hoosier Daddy Smokehouse Hickory with Lime BBQ Wings

A Dream-Worthy Sauce

I cannot wait to make some more Hoosier Daddy Smokehouse Hickory with lime BBQ sauce wings. But I also can’t wait to use the same sauce on some of my other favorites. Like smoked ribs! Or pulled pork. And I know this sauce will be amazing on rib tips or burnt ends. And you know what? You don’t have to get all BBQ-y with it to enjoy it. Slather some on grilled hot dogs or burgers too! Ditch the ketchup, this is better!

Available Online and in Stores

I’m lucky enough to be able to get all of the Hoosier Daddy BBQ sauces at our local grocery store. Tremendous on anything grilled or smoked, the sauces take wings to an all-new place too.
