TGI Friday’s Buffalo Snack Wings

I don’t just make fresh wings at home. I think it’s important to try other wings. Like these TGI Friday’s Buffalo snack wings. I know that not everyone wants to grab a pack of wings from the butcher, trim them, cook them and sauce them. It’s a bit of work. And if you’re entertaining others, you want to be out with your guests and not in the kitchen tossing wings in seasonings and sauces. But you also don’t want to serve bad wings. I can say these are decent wings. They are definitely some of the best frozen wings I’ve found.

TGI Friday's Buffalo Snack Wings

Tasty. And Easy.

I liked the sauce on these TGI Friday’s Buffalo snack wings. It’s seasoned well. It’s not super spicy but it still has a bit of a kick to it. There’s plenty of sauce on each wing too. I didn’t run into a case where one wing was sauced and one wasn’t. The coating on the wings is good too. They’re reasonably meaty, and I found the wings to be pretty consistent in quality from box to box. I can’t say I’ve always had that same experience with other frozen wing brands.

I cooked my wings in the oven. I’m not a big fan of microwaved wings even though the packaging has instructions for cooking them there. The oven gives you just a bit of a crunch to the wings and I like that. Plus they’re easy. Just make sure you use some non-stick spray on the foil before adding the wings. They do like to stick a bit.

Also try some of Perdue’s roasted crispy air fryer wings.

Kinder’s Gold BBQ Sauce Wings

It didn’t take me long to realize that if the label says ‘Kinder’s‘, it’s going to be great. Seasoning, sauces, it doesn’t matter what it is, I’m going to love it. That’s why I knew these Kinder’s Gold BBQ sauce wings would be great. Long before I even took that first bite, I knew I was in for something good. Sweet and tangy, the lightly smoky sauce is a wonderful combination of mustard, tomato and vinegar. There’s a lot going on in this sauce, and it’s all good.

Kinder's Gold BBQ Wings

Cook. Sauce. Devour.

Some gold BBQ sauces are a little too ‘gold’ for me. They’re too mustardy. Not this one. This sauce is perfectly balanced. I think of a wonderful marriage between a North Carolina mustard sauce and a KC tomato-based sauce with every bite. Kinder’s Gold BBQ sauce wings are a great thing.

I never go to the grocery store and browse the BBQ sauce aisle thinking just ‘BBQ’. I know that any sauce is going to be great on wings too. So sure, this is a great sauce on ribs. Or burgers. Or anything grilled. But it’s also amazing on wings. Give it a shot!

Spicy Kentuckyaki Sauce Wings

I made a batch of ‘regular’ Kentuckyaki sauce wings the other day and thought that they were easily some of the best wings I’ve ever had. Except one little thing. I wanted a bit more kick. Some heat. Oh gosh, don’t get me wrong the non-spicy version was spectacular and I’d make and eat them all day long. But it was time for some spicy Kentuckyaki sauce wings. And they did not disappoint.

Lick The Plate Delicious

I can’t get over how much I enjoyed these spicy Kentuckyaki sauce wings. The perfect balance of sweet and heat. With a wonderful bourbon twist. A hint. Just right. Asian-inspired flavors that make you want to not only lick your fingers, but the plate too.

I picked up this sauce and its non-spicy partner at the Kentucky Artisan Center on I-75 in Berea, KY. It’s a great place to stop to find arts, crafts, sauces and even grab a great breakfast or lunch!

Go Easy, My Friend

I’m always leery of tossing deep-fried wings in sauce. You have to be gentle or that crunchy coating you worked so hard to get comes flying off. I recommend either drizzling the wings first and gently stirring with a spatula or brushing the sauce on. You can also just serve the sauce on the side for dipping.

For the sauce

Instructions

For the sauce

  • Heat 2-3" of oil in a deep-fryer or Dutch oven. While it's warming up, make the sauce.
  • In a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat, add the Kentuckyaki sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar and hot sauce. Stir.
  • In a small glass or bowl, mix the corn starch and water together. I like to use a fork for this. Make sure you get them well-combined.
  • Let the sauce come to a boil. Whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Continue whisking while the sauce thickens, another 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let sit while you make the wings. Note: If the sauce gets too thick as it sets, whisk in a teaspoon or two of warm water to thin it.

For the wings

  • Place the flour in a large bowl. Stir in the salt and pepper.
  • Working in batches if needed, add the wings to the flour and coat well. Turn them several times, making sure you get the wings covered in flour.
  • Shake off any excess flour and add to the hot oil. Deep fry 7-10 minutes or until the wings hit 165 F. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack over a baking sheet to drain.
  • Transfer wings to a large bowl. Drizzle with the sauce. Using a spatula, turn the wings to coat well. Click here for our guide on how to sauce your wings.
  • Remove wings to a platter and serve.

Notes

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce on the side, if desired.

Kinder’s Black Cherry Chipotle Dry Wings

Wow. Just wow. I’ve had my share of different flavors of dry wings but these Kinder’s black cherry chipotle wings are different and then some. Tart and sweet, I could not stop eating them. No sauce required. No Ranch or blue cheese dressing required. Just good ole wings and seasoning. I used an air fryer but you can cook them any way you like. Just make sure to load them up on the seasoning because they are delicious.

Head To The Spice Aisle

I found this seasoning near a bunch of other seasonings in the store. It wasn’t the ‘Wing Section’ of the store either. This is why it pays to look around and think to yourself ‘would that be good on wings?’. The answer is often yes. It was a definite ‘yes’ when it came to these Kinder’s black cherry chipotle dry wings.

Surprise!

If you’re looking to get some looks of happiness and surprise, serve these wings next time you’re watching the big game with friends. They’ll be more than pleasantly surprised at just how good and different they are.

Kinder’s also makes a black cherry BBQ sauce. It’s great on wings too.

La Preferida Hot Wing Sauce Wings

You can’t go wrong with a batch of La Preferida hot wing sauce wings. The sauce is what I would call your pretty much standard Buffalo wing sauce. Not too spicy but with a good kick. Rightly seasoned. To be truthful, with a trusted name like La Preferida on the label, I was expecting a little something different. A twist. A little special seasoning. That didn’t happen. But, these are still good wings.

A Rarity?

I found a bottle of La Preferida hot wing sauce at a specialty grocery store in Cincinnati. I can’t find it online anywhere. Heck, I even tried contacting the company to see what the deal is and why I can’t find it anywhere. I wanted to make more La Preferida hot wing sauce wings.

Fried. Or Not.

I made my wings my standard fried way. Just a light coating. Fried to perfection. Then sauced. That’s it. Well, that and happiness.

Also try some Fricker’s hot wing sauce wings. Made at home.

Tyson Korean BBQ Frozen Wings

I’m usually a make-them-fresh wing kinda guy. But I am also open to trying just about any wing you can make, including the ones I find in bags or boxes in the freezer section of my local grocery. I don’t usually have really high expectations for them. Often the ‘wings’ are small or don’t have much meat. Or are inconsistent in size and taste. So I tend to be kinda pessimistic when I buy them. I have to say, though, that I was pretty impressed with these Tyson Korean BBQ frozen wings. Meaty? Yep. Tasty? Yep.

Tyson Korean BBQ Frozen Wings

They Look Like Wings!

It might seem strange to be surprised that these Tyson Korean BBQ frozen wings look like wings. I’ve had some weird looking frozen wings before. I open the bag or box and wonder what I’m looking at. Not these, though. They looked like flats and drummies. I could recognize them. So right off the bat, things were looking good!

And They’re Tasty, Too!

These wings are coated in a kinda tangy Korean BBQ sauce. And not sorta coated. Unlike some wings, these wings have flavor all around, everywhere. These wings are not spicy. A little sweet but there’s no heat. I thought the sauce was quite tasty actually. I’d happily buy a bottle of this sauce by itself and use it on my own wings!

Bayou Bourre Louisiana Boil Wings

I’ll never look at a bottle of hot sauce the same way again. The fine folks over at Bayou Gotham changed my world when they came out with Bayou Bourré Louisiana Boil sauce. Heat-wise, this sauce has just a little nice gentle kick to it. But flavor-wise, this sauce is insanely great. I devoured my Bayou Bourre Louisiana Boil wings in no time at all.

Bayou Bourre Louisiana Boil Wings

Crab Boil Heaven

I am a crab boil addict. I love the flavors. This sauce brings all that. It’s a wonderful combination of spiciness (but not super spicy at all!), citrus, onions, celery, corn and potatoes. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s all in these Bayou Bourre Louisiana Boil wings. You see it all in the bottle. It looks good just sitting there. It’s like flavor art in a bottle.

Butter Up. Or Don’t.

I usually mix a little melted butter with my hot sauce before saucing on my wings. It’s what I call my Two Ingredient wing sauce. Pretty sneaky naming, huh? Well, sometimes you run into a hot sauce where you may not want to do this. Bayou Bourré Louisiana Boil sauce is a good example. So here’s what I recommend. Taste the sauce. If you love it out of the bottle (and you will), just pour it on your wings. No need to add butter. But if you want a little buttery flavor (ala classic Buffalo wing flavors), add a little. Not a lot. Heat it and melt it and stir. Taste. Good? Put it on your wings. Want more butter? Go for it.

There’s no wrong here. This sauce makes for amazing wings no matter if you add butter or not.

Dan-O’s Original Seasoning Dry Wings

Have you seen those machines you can buy to make your house smell good? I always look at them and scratch my head. Why do you need one of those when all you need to make your home smell outrageously fantastic is to make some Dan-O’s Original Seasoning dry wings? And as an added bonus, after you get the homestead smellin’ good, you can enjoy some delicious wings! How much more of a win-win could you need? Or want?

Dan-O's Original Seasoning Dry Wings

Herby Deliciousness

Dan-O’s Original Seasoning was invented for poultry. Rosemary. Garlic. Good stuff that you might normally find on a roast turkey or chicken. Well, don’t forget the wings! These Dan-O’s Original Seasoning dry wings are what roasted wings should be. Crispy skin. Wonderful herby flavors. Moist, tender meat.

A Twist On My Usual Dry Wings

I’m a huge fan of dry wings. It’s hard for me to resist super-seasoned wings with that great crunchy skin. Usually, I season my wings before cooking and then again after for extra flavor. For these wings, however, I go with one good, healthy seasoning beforehand. That’s it. No post-cook seasoning required or needed. These are great wings without it.

Also try some Lawry’s zesty lemon and pepper dry wings!

Tabasco Buffalo Style Sauce Wings

Everyone knows that TABASCO knows hot sauce. Their name is synonymous with great flavor and great heat. They’ve been around for 5 generations and there’s a reason for that. Now they’ve gone and made what I think it easily one of the best Buffalo-inspired sauces ever. A simple batch of wings topped with this sauce is no longer simple. It’s amazing. These Tabasco Buffalo Style sauce wings are fantastic. Easily one of my favorites.

Tabasco Buffalo Style Sauce Wings

Amazing Pepper Flavor

There’s something so special about this sauce. It’s the oak-aged mash for sure. And the tremendous peppers. Together, with a little vinegar, salt and garlic, they make these Tabasco Buffalo style sauce wings amazing. I cannot get over how much I loved the flavor. Yes, there’s a bit of heat. But not much. I’d call it mild. You don’t need a lot of heat here. You’ve got tremendous flavor. Enjoy. I sure did!

Pepper Palace Wing Master Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce Wings

Whenever my wife and I are in the Gatlinburg, Tennessee, area we always make it a point to swing by a Pepper Palace store. They have several stores in the area, including a new one in Sevierville in an area called The Island. The store, as always, was busy, with people everywhere enjoying samples of the hot sauces and salsas, from the hot to the mild. Me, I headed straight to the wing sauces and in particular, Pepper Palace’s own line of Wing Master sauces, including this Garlic Parmesan wing sauce.

You can cook these wings any way you like, on whatever you prefer. As soon as we returned from our trip I threw a few seasoned wings onto my Weber Performer grill outfitted with the Vortex insert. When the wings were done I tossed them with the Garlic Parmesan sauce and dug in. The sauce is mellow, cheesy, and definitely garlicky. Not overwhelmingly garlicky, but really good. There’s a slight wing sauce kick, but again, not overwhelming. It’s a very enjoyable sauce, and a favorite around our house. I definitely wish that I’d picked up a few more bottles!

Pepper Palace Wing Master Garlic Parmesan Wings

One Of Many Great Sauces

Pepper Palace has a wide range of sauces, from the extremely hot to the nice and mellow. The Garlic Parmesan wing sauce is nice and mellow with not a lot of heat. It’s packed with garlic flavor. And parmesan. There’s no skimping on ingredients going on here, that’s for sure.

I seasoned the Pepper Palace Wing Master Garlic Parmesan wing sauce wings with your standard Ranch dressing seasoning mix, which complimented the sauce flavors perfectly.

You can order Pepper Palace’s sauces online but if it is well worth stopping in at one of their many stores
