House of Wings BBQ wing sauce is what a wing sauce should be. The perfect balance of traditional Buffalo wing flavors with a hint of BBQ sauce, I could eat these wings all day long. This is the kind of sauce that’ll satisfy everyone from the hard-core wing aficionado to the I-only-eat-wings-during-the-Super Bowl guy.
Pure Wing Sauce Greatness
I picked up a few bottles of each of the flavors from Alliger’s House of Wings. When they arrived I thought to myself “yowsa, that’s a lot of wing sauce”. Now that I’ve been enjoying them I realize that there’s no such thing as having too many on hand. House of Wings BBQ wing sauce is just one example of pure wing sauce greatness.
Also try some Garlic-Q wings made with Alliger’s House of Wings sauces.
I love opening a bottle of wing sauce that I’ve never tried. There’s that moment of anticipation. Will I be wowed? Will I be un-wowed? Well, welcome to ‘wowed’ and then some. These Ott’s Original Wing Sauce wings were crazy great. As soon as I opened the bottle I noticed the aroma of one of my favorite spices: celery seed. I use it often in slaws and salad dressings. But I don’t think I’ve ever found it (at least not noticeably) in a Buffalo wing sauce. This is one wonderful take on a classic sauce. Oh did I mention it has a bit of a spicy kick too? Yep, it does. Not too hot but it brings a little heat for sure. I’d call it ‘spot on’ heat.
Make Some Wings. Any Wings.
You can make your wings however you prefer. I decided to air fry mine. No matter which way you go, I suggest you don’t over-season your wings. Go light. Maybe just salt and pepper. At most. You don’t want something that’ll fight the sauce. These Ott’s Original Wing Sauce wings are more about the sauce than the wing. That doesn’t mean that your wings have to be blah. Just don’t go crazy with them. The spices in this sauce are amazing and you’ll want to enjoy them.
I found this sauce at a Schnucks grocery store in Bloomington, IL. We were in town to hit a few antique stores up for finds. I always make it a point to visit the local grocery stores in search of new wing sauces and I found this one. I’m so glad I did!
There are a number of guarantees in life. You know, like taxes. And that any seasoning or sauce from Lillie’s Q is going to be amazing. Amazing in flavor, amazing in quality, amazing in every way that is important. Lillie’s Q Hot Buffalo wing sauce is a guaranteed winner. You know what you’re in for. A hot Buffalo wing sauce. I mean, that’s kind of obvious! But you know that Lillie’s is going to deliver those classic flavors in a sauce that is perfectly balanced, wonderfully spicy, and just the right consistency to stick to your wings.
Oh So Good Buffalo-Inspired Flavors
Many wing sauces come in plastic bottles. I get that. It’s a cost thing. A freight thing. Not Lillie’s Q Hot Buffalo wing sauce. Nothing but thick, glass bottles here. For the same reason beer tastes better out of a glass bottle, wing sauce tastes better out of glass. It’s another reason why you know going in that you’re in for a great sauce.
PS: Don’t say I didn’t warn you. The bottle does say ‘hot’ right there on the front of the label. It’s not a misprint.
Somebody at Kroger wasn’t lying when they named this sauce. Kroger Buffalo spicy garlic wing sauce is definitely spicy. More so than garlicky. This is a wing sauce that packs a great punch with good flavor, for a really great price. And it’s also the right consistency, important for proper sticking to wings. That’s why you want a wing sauce, right? It’s not gravy, it doesn’t belong on the bottom of your plate. It belongs on your wings.
By Golly It’s Spicy. And Garlicky.
If you’re using a wing sauce (be it homemade or store-bought like Kroger’s Buffalo spicy garlic wing sauce) that has been refrigerated always warm it up just a bit before using it. Nothing makes a hot wing cold faster than tossing it in a sauce right out of the fridge. If you want a cold sauce, I recommend serving it on the side in a sauce dipping cup, like these.
I love the Private Selection (Kroger’s premium brand) line of wing sauces. Each one has been fantastic, and believe me I’ve tried them all. The Private Selection Chili wing sauce is no exception. It’s a wonderful combination of garlic and very mild chile peppers. It packs a very, very light punch and brings a good bit of sweetness. Not too spicy and not too sweet.
Great On Other Dishes, Too!
Private Selection Chili wing sauce isn’t just a great sauce for wings, either. It’s great for dipping shrimp and chicken nuggets too! But it is absolutely finger-licking fantastic on a batch of hot-out-of-whatever-you-cooked-them-in wings. I admit it, I’m pretty heavy handed with it when I pour it onto my wings.
Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.
Alliger’s House of Wings is a highly-rated establishment located in Sayre, PA, halfway between Elmira and Owego NY. It’s definitely on my to-visit list because let me tell you, their wing sauces are insanely good. I recently ordered a bottle of every single one. Starting with the House of Wings Garlic wing sauce, I have to say I am in love with these sauces. This sauce brings the garlic and then some. It also has that great classic Buffalo wing flavor. With just the right amount of heat. And lots of garlic. Did I mention the garlic?
Garlic Love In Every Bite
House of Wings Garlic wing sauce has the consistency of a traditional Buffalo sauce. Not too thick. Just right. The website states that this is one of their best-selling sauces, and I can definitely see why.
Also on Alliger’s website you’ll find ways to take their bottled sauces and, with just a few more ingredients, make all-new flavors. Cool idea!
One of my favorite childhood memories is of the backyard BBQs our neighborhood would have. A charcoal grill, chicken, and BBQ sauce. Oh sure there were things like potato salad and chips, too, but even as a kid I was all about that BBQ chicken. Well, nothing has changed really. Except now instead of legs or chicken quarters, I lean towards grilling wings. There’s nothing fancy going on here. Prep time is minimal. Cook time is fairly short. But these old school backyard BBQ wings hit the spot just like the chicken off the grill oh so many years ago!
Don’t Over-Think It.
Like I said, there’s nothing fancy going on with these old school backyard BBQ wings. There’s no need to some $10/bottle wing seasoning. Or a high-fallutin’ BBQ sauce. Get that cheap stuff that’s been around for decades. There’s a reason it’s lasted that long. Get that.
I really like to put my sauced wings directly over the hot coals just before removing them. I like to ‘set’ the sauce and get a little char on the wings. A little crunch. Not too much, I don’t want to burn them and get that burned taste. But a little char is good.
Sprinkle the seasoning over the wings. Using your hands, toss the wings to coat.
Load up the charcoal chimney about 3/4ths of the way with charcoal and light. Once the charcoal is all lit and lightly covered in ash, dump the coals into the grill along one side. This will create two zones: a hot direct heat zone over the coals and a cooler indirect heat zone for the wings.
Add the charcoal grate and close the grill. Oven the top and bottoms vents all the way. Let the grill preheat for 5.
Place the wings on the indirect heat side of the grill. Close the lid and turn so that the vent is above the wings.
Cook until the wings are lightly browned and crispy, usually 45 minutes.
Brush the tops of the wings with BBQ sauce the last 10 minutes of cooking. Close the lid and cook another 5 minutes.
Flip the wings and brush with more sauce. Close the lid and cook another 5 minutes.
If desired, place the wings directly over the coals to get a little char on them for 1-2 minutes.
A little sweet. And a little heat. A little tangy mustard. And the perfect flavor combinations. The perfect consistency. Legend Larry’s Honey BBQ wing sauce is spot-on the perfect wing sauce. There’s nothing wrong with traditional Buffalo-inspired wing flavors, but sometimes you want something totally new and totally different. This is it. This is one fantastic sauce that you’ll find yourself craving over and over.
Decidedly Different. Definitely Delicious.
Legend Larry’s Honey BBQ wing sauce isn’t just for wings, either. I like to brush it on grilled or smoked ribs. It’s also fantastic as a dipping sauce for grilled chicken breasts or chicken nuggets. Since it’s not too thin (or thick) it makes for a great all-around sauce.
Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.
This right here is one fantastic bottled Buffalo wing sauce. Heritage Fare hit this one out of the park, big time. Just the right Buffalo flavor, just the right amount of heat. And Heritage Fare Buffalo chicken wings sauce has just the right consistency, too. And that’s just as important as taste. Doesn’t matter how great tasting a sauce is if it all ends up at the bottom of a plate, and not on your wings!
Great Classic Buffalo Flavor
I can’t recommend Heritage Fare Buffalo wing sauce enough. I loved it. Sure, you can make a Buffalo wing sauce at home easy enough, but you’re going to have a hard time beating the taste and convenience of it right out of the bottle.

Just because it doesn’t say ‘wing sauce’ on the label doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be good on wings. And actually, Chik’N-Lik’N BBQ sauce wings aren’t just good. They’re flat-out delicious. I devoured these wings like I hadn’t eaten in weeks. A little savory, with a light mustardy tang and just a bit of spiciness, I can see why people love this sauce on more than chicken.
This Sauce Makes Me Happy
I didn’t use up the entire bottle of sauce on my Chik’N-Lik’N BBQ sauce wings, although I certainly could’ve made a few more batches of wings and loved every one of them. No, I saved some for roasted chicken and even burgers. The sauce was delicious on both. This is one great sauce to keep on hand, even substituting it for ketchup on fries!
