Kirkwood Buffalo Style Chicken Wings

I’m a fresh wing kinda guy. Usually. Sometimes I don’t have time to prepare wings from scratch. Or worse, I can’t find fresh wings in my grocery store. Or I just want to try something new. I was in Aldi the other day, picking up fresh wings (they have great fresh wings). I decided to check out the freezer cases before I headed to the checkout. And there they were. Kirkwood Buffalo style chicken wings. They looked good. I bought them. And I made them. And you know what? They were good!

Kirkwood Buffalo Style Chicken Wings

Actual Wings. No Weird Stuff.

I’ve purchased some weird looking frozen wings. They were pre-battered, like these. But they didn’t look like wings. Kirkwood Buffalo style chicken wings are pre-battered. And they look like wings. Because they are actual wings. They’re sauced just right, in a sauce with good Buffalo flavor and a hint of heat. They’re meaty. I liked them. A lot.

Seven Servings. LOL.

The 22 ounce bag of wings I bought said it was 7 servings. Maybe somewhere in an alternate universe of really tiny people. Not me. I’d call them 4 servings at most. If you’re having a big party and need a bunch of wings, these are going to go over great. Just make sure you buy more than you think you’ll need. They’re good and people will want more. You bet I did.

I baked my wings on a silicone mat. I tried what the instructions on the bag stated and sprayed a baking pan with non-stick spray, but found that the wings still stuck. The silicone mat was much better.

Also try some Braswell’s spicy hot wings.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • If you have a silicone baking mat, line a baking sheet with the mat and add the wings. If you do not have a silicone baking mat, liberally spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray and add the wings. I prefer to start with the bone-side of the wings down (for flats). For the drums it doesn't matter.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. Gently turn the wings. I use a fork or rubber spatula for this. I've found that tongs will tend to tear the coating/skin if the wings stick any.
  • Bake another 10-15 minutes or until turning lightly golden in color and the wings internal temperature is 165 F.
  • Let the wings rest for 5 minutes before serving. They will still be piping hot so be careful!

Notes

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce on the side, if desired.

Wing-Time Mild Buffalo Wings

The Buffalo-style sauces from Wing-Time have always been a big hit with me. They always have the right heat level, from the hot to these Wing-Time mild Buffalo wings. They always have fantastic Buffalo-inspired flavors. That perfect balance of vinegar, butter and spices. Always finger-licking good, I’ve always been a fan. I enjoy my wings tossed in this sauce. Or dipped in it. Doesn’t matter how I get it onto my wings, it’s good!

Wing-Time Mild Buffalo Wings

Gone? Or Not Gone?

I gotta say, I’m not sure the makers of Wing-Time sauces are still around. I’ve tried contacting them but no luck. It’d be sad if they’re gone because they have made some of the best wing sauces around. These Wing-Time hot Buffalo wings are great proof of that. On the off-chance the company is going bye-bye I suggest you grab some bottles of Wing-Time mild Buffalo wing sauce now.

Also try some Wing-Time honey bourbon wings.

Buffalo Teriyaki Wings

The simplest of wings can often be the best. Like these Buffalo teriyaki wings. Just a few ingredients and a little cooking time and I’m enjoying great wings. No fancy batters or marinades or anything. Just cooked plain wings tossed in a great sauce. I cooked my wings in the air fryer but any technique will do. I make the sauce while the wings are cooking since it doesn’t take long to prepare. The end result is lightly sweet and lightly spicy. It’s a great combination of Asian-inspired and traditional wing flavors. These are finger-licking good wings!

Buffalo Teriyaki Wings

Step Up Your Teriyaki Game

You can use whatever teriyaki sauce you like to make these Buffalo teriyaki wings. But for me, my go-to teriyaki sauce is from the fine folks over at Bourbon Barrel Food. They have two versions actually. The Kentuckyaki sauce is a wonderfully bourbon-infused sauce that has such a great, deep flavor. It’s great anywhere I need a teriyaki sauce. And of course their spicy version is … spicier! It also makes for a great sauce for these wings!

Rub Your Chicken Buffalo Wings

“Tame.” That’s the first word that came to mind after my first bites of some Rub Your Chicken Buffalo wings. After my last two super-hot Buffalo wing sauces, “tame” was a welcomed thing. Great traditional flavor, buttery and just slightly spicy, this is a great sauce for those desiring the classic without being overwhelmed. The amount of vinegar is spot on. Again, tame is the best way to describe it.

Rub Your Chicken Buffalo Wings

A Nice Mellow Buffalo-Inspired Sauce

Rub Your Chicken Buffalo wings sauce (from BBQ Spot) isn’t just for wings. It’s a great dipping sauce for nuggets, too. Anywhere you want great Buffalo flavor without being overwhelmed, you’ll want this sauce. That’s also why it makes for a great marinade, specially for chicken breasts. A few hours in the sauce then onto the grill. In no time you’ve got great chicken packed with flavor.

Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings (Copycat Recipe)

There are three things I can sit down at a table and eat all day long. They are (in no particular order): peel and eat shrimp, a crab boil, and this copycat recipe of the Anchor Bar Buffalo wings. Not coincidentally, all foods I can eat with my hands. Great food is even better when you can eat it with your hands. These wings have just the right amount of heat, the perfect vinegar hit, and a buttery flavor that is just the perfect combination. And, bite after bite, I cannot get enough of these wings. Give me a bucket of these wings, a few cold beverages, and a football game on TV and life is good. Real good!

Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings (Copycat Recipe)

The Classic

There’s nothing fancy or complicated going on with this copycat recipe Anchor Bar Buffalo wings recipe. Season some wings and fry them. No batter required. No overnight brining. The sauce is easy, straightforward and packs nothing but flavor with just the right amount of spiciness. Make extra, because you’ll find yourself eating the afternoon away with these wings. They are perfect for watching the big game. Or the not-so-big-game for that matter.

You’ll find a number of variations on this recipe all over the internet. And I’ve certainly tried my share of them. This is my preferred approach. From my understanding it best duplicates the original recipe from the famed bar. It sure as heck tastes great, I do know that!

Should You Mess With It?

After you’ve made this recipe a few times I think it’s ok to tinker with it. But you have to do the original justice first. Kind of a tribute, or ode, to the beginning of the Buffalo wing phenomenon. Not that there are rules, but it just seems right to pay homage to the classic.

Wing It Buffalo Wings

The fine folks over at Wing It nailed it when they came out with their version of a Buffalo sauce. Their sauce brings that classic combination of vinegar, butter and spices but with a little twist. The spices are different. Delicious. And although I love all of the sauces they make, this one is one of the best variations on the classic I’ve ever found. I love this sauce. Just the right heat and fantastic flavor, it cannot be beat.

Wing It Buffalo Wings

A Wonderfully Flavorful Sauce

Wing It Buffalo wing sauce is loaded with seasonings. Make sure you give it a good long shake before drizzling it on your wings and giving them a toss. You want that flavor and kick in each and every bite to be the same. You’ll find yourself enjoying your wings like never before! Refrigerate any leftover sauce. When you go to use it, make sure you set it out for at least 30 minutes to warm up a bit before using.

Kinder’s Buffalo Wings

Ya know, a good Buffalo wing sauce doesn’t have to be scorching hot to be good. In fact, I’d argue that an over-the-top hot wing sauce isn’t necessarily good, especially if you cannot taste the ingredients in the sauce. Kinder’s Buffalo wings bring fantastic classic flavors. Plenty of garlic. Buttery goodness. And a wonderful mix of tasty spices. And importantly, just the right amount of vinegar. This is a great, mellow, delicious sauce that is perfect on wings.

Kinder's Buffalo Wings

A Great Sauce For A Crowd

Kinder’s Buffalo wings are the kind of wings you can easily serve at a party and not worry about anyone screaming that they can’t stand the heat. This sauce is more about great flavor than heat. If you’ve got guests that want heat, serve it to them, but save this sauce for those wanting to just enjoy fantastic wings without the burn.

What Are You Waiting For?

Go make some wings! It’s not that hard to do! My go-to method is to air-fry them. A little seasoning first. Air-fried to perfection. Fantastic aroma as they cook. Crispy skin. Juicy meat. Tender. Ready for a sauce. Air-fried wings can hold up to being tossed with sauce, so that’s what I do. If they were deep-fried with a batter I wouldn’t abuse them like that. I’d gently brush the sauce on. Or serve it on the side, for sipping.

See my guides for cooking your wings, and saucing them! I’ve got you covered!

This sauce is also fantastic served in little serving cups, ready for dipping your favorite chicken nuggets. For that matter, I sometimes like to put my wing sauce in the cups. That way I can dunk my wings and get them as saucy as I want. Or not very saucy. I get to choose!

Lillie’s Q Buffalo Wings

Vinegar (the quality stuff). Butter (the real stuff). Cayenne (the spicy stuff). Combined they make for a delicious wing sauce. Lillie’s Q Buffalo wing sauce is just that. Just the right consistency to stick to your wings without being, well, gloppy. And not so thin that none of the sauce sticks to the wings. What would be the point of that?

Lillie's Q Buffalo Wings

Buffalo-Inspired Greatness

I will point out that even though the bottle doesn’t specifically state ‘hot’ on it, these Lillie’s Q Buffalo wings are pretty spicy. Not like screaming hot, but you’re gonna feel it. Guy Fieri’s Buffalo NY Wings

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but when I see a celebrity’s face on a bottle of wing sauce, or on a package of frozen food, on a restaurant, or on a seasoning shaker, I think I’m in for disappointment. Usually the flavor doesn’t match the hype. Well, color me wrong on this one because Guy Fieri’s Buffalo NY wing sauces more than hit the spot for me. I could not get enough of wings tossed in this sauce. I thought that it’s more than a great version of traditional Buffalo wing sauce, it raises the bar!

Guy Fieri's Buffalo NY Wings

A Better Buffalo-Style Sauce

Guy Fieri’s Buffalo NY wing sauce is going to pass the scrutiny of any hard-core wing aficionado in my opinion. It has the right consistency, the right heat level (medium at most) and definitely the right flavor. The ingredients list reads like many Buffalo wing sauce bottles do. But the combination of them is perfect. I’m impressed.

Legend Larry's Mild Buffalo Wings

The Perfect Amount of Heat

Legend Larry’s mild Buffalo wings do have a bit of a kick to them. Oh, don’t get me wrong. It’s not a crazy hot sauce by any stretch but you will get that cayenne kick. If you’re serving this at a get-together you might wanna just let folks know it’s mild. Not medium. And definitely not scary hot.
