Copycat Applebee’s Buffalo Wings

I’m sitting here trying to describe how I felt when I devoured this copycat of the Buffalo wings from Applebee’s. It was more than love. It was an unstoppable obsession. An addiction. As soon as I was done eating I started to plan making them again. And again. So what makes them so different? It’s the addition of flour to what is a pretty typical Buffalo wing sauce. You wouldn’t think that it would make that big of a difference, but it helps the sauce stick to the wings. You don’t usually get that with Buffalo wings. They may be sauced, but a lot of that sauce ends up on your plate or shirt and not in your mouth.

Copycat Applebee's Buffalo Wings

Make Extra, They’re Great!

There’s no such thing as making too many Applebee’s Buffalo wings or making them too often. No matter how you cook them, everyone will love them. I’ll end my thoughts there because I’m off to make another batch…

I store my leftover homemade sauces in squeeze bottles. If refrigerated, I set them out an hour before using so they come to room temperature. You don’t want to put cold sauce on hot wings!

Copycat Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings

There are three things I can sit down at a table and eat all day long. They are (in no particular order): peel and eat shrimp, a crab boil, and copycat Anchor Bar Buffalo wings. Great food is even better when you can eat it with your hands. These wings have just the right amount of heat, the perfect vinegar hit, and a buttery flavor that is just the perfect combination. And, bite after bite, I cannot get enough of these wings.

Copycat Anchor Bar Buffalo Wings

The Classic

There’s nothing fancy or complicated going on with this copycat Anchor Bar Buffalo wings recipe. Season some wings and fry them. No batter required. No overnight brining. The sauce is easy, straightforward and packs nothing but flavor with just the right amount of spiciness. Make extra, because you’ll find yourself eating the afternoon away with these wings. They are perfect for watching the big game. Or the not-so-big-game for that matter.

You’ll find a number of variations on this recipe all over the internet. This is my preferred approach. From my understanding it best duplicates the original recipe from the famed bar. It sure as heck tastes great, I do know that!

Cajun Buffalo Wings

I admit, not everything in this sauce screams Cajun, but these Cajun Buffalo wings are so darned tasty I didn’t care. Everything I love is in this sauce which explains my addiction to it. I cannot stop eating wings tossed in it. A little heat, lots of (yummy) garlic, and just the right amount of traditional Buffalo flavor, this sauce is a real winner.

Cajun Buffalo Wings

Amazing Flavor in Every Bite

If you want your Cajun Buffalo wings to be even more on the spicy side, use Frank’s RedHot Hot Buffalo Wings sauce. Or go with mild for less heat. I opted for less heat this time and really enjoyed it. Not every wing sauce has to sear the roof of your mouth.

You’ll love the flavors of these wings as much as I did. It’s great stuff! For a nice twist also try my Cajun Bay wings.

Buffalo Teriyaki Wings

The simplest of wings can often be the best. Like these Buffalo teriyaki wings. Just a few ingredients and a little cooking time and I’m enjoying great wings. No fancy batters or marinades or anything. Just cooked plain wings tossed in a great sauce. I cooked my wings in the air fryer but any technique will do. I make the sauce while the wings are cooking since it doesn’t take long to prepare. The end result is lightly sweet and lightly spicy. It’s a great combination of Asian-inspired and traditional wing flavors. These are finger-licking good wings!

Buffalo Teriyaki Wings

Step Up Your Teriyaki Game

You can use whatever teriyaki sauce you like to make these Buffalo teriyaki wings. But for me, my go-to teriyaki sauce is from the fine folks over at Bourbon Barrel Food. They have two versions actually. The Kentuckyaki sauce is a wonderfully bourbon-infused sauce that has such a great, deep flavor. It’s great anywhere I need a teriyaki sauce. And of course their spicy version is … spicier! It also makes for a great sauce for these wings!

Buffalo Supreme Wings

Buffalo wings, blue cheese, and celery. Very traditional and very good and usually, each component is served separately. But why not cut to the chase and combine all of those great flavors into one bite? Buffalo supreme wings do exactly that. Yeah, they’re messy to eat, but that’s part of the fun. And they do combine all the great classic tastes in bite after bite. You just cannot beat these wings!

Buffalo Supreme Wings

Everything You Need in one Bite

I really enjoyed chowing down on Buffalo supreme wings. They didn’t last long at all, that’s for sure. It was bordering on embarrassing, but I couldn’t help myself. That happens with me and wings a lot. I used the classic, Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce, but you can actually substitute your favorite.

You’re not going to need a dipping sauce for these wings. What could you possibly dip them in that would make them better? They’re already tossed in the best everything-in-it sauce ever!

Buff-a-cue Wings

Sometimes it’s the easy, simple things that taste the best. These Buff-a-cue wings came out fantastic. The sauce takes literally no time at all to make. And it’s totally up to you how to ‘make it your own’. Use a spicy BBQ sauce. Or a smoky one. Or a bourbon-flavored one. Whichever you prefer. Change it up from day-to-day. Ditto the Buffalo sauce. Mild one day. Crazy hot the next. Do you. You can’t go wrong with these wings.

Buff-a-cue Wings

Wing Bar

These Buff-a-cue wings would be great for a crowd. You can set up a variety of wing stations, each with a different flavor. Without breaking the bank or spending a lot of time making sauces. It’s an easy way to satisfy those like have a sweet tooth. And those that like it spicy. So grab a few bottles of BBQ sauce and a few bottles of Buffalo sauce next time you’re at the store, and get to making some great wings!

Heritage Fare Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

This right here is one fantastic bottled Buffalo wing sauce. Heritage Fare hit this one out of the park, big time. Just the right Buffalo flavor, just the right amount of heat. And Heritage Fare Buffalo chicken wings sauce has just the right consistency, too. And that’s just as important as taste. Doesn’t matter how great tasting a sauce is if it all ends up at the bottom of a plate, and not on your wings!

Heritage Fare Buffalo Chicken Wings

Great Classic Buffalo Flavor

I can’t recommend Heritage Fare Buffalo wing sauce enough. I loved it. Sure, you can make a Buffalo wing sauce at home easy enough, but you’re going to have a hard time beating the taste and convenience of it right out of the bottle.

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Also try some Heritage Fare garlic wing sauce wings!

TGI Fridays Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

I’ve always been a fan of Buffalo wings so I’m always up for trying an already-made Buffalo wing sauce, especially since there are so many different ones. I picked up a bottle of TGI Fridays Buffalo wing sauce and quickly got to making a batch of wings. This is not a thick Buffalo wing sauce, but instead it’s quite thin. A bottle goes a long, long way. It’s a mild sauce so you get great Buffalo-style flavors but without a lot of spiciness. I would say it’s a good  standard Buffalo wing sauce, perfect for a crowd since you don’t have to worry about it being too hot.

TGI Fridays Buffalo Wings

A Real Crowd Pleaser

TGI Friday’s Buffalo wing sauce isn’t just great on wings, either. It makes for a perfect dipping sauce for chicken fingers or nuggets. If the sauce is too thin just warm it in a sauce pan. Then whisk in just a bit of flour. Not much, but just enough to thicken it up.

Buffalo Wild Wings Wild Wing Sauce Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings has had a hot Buffalo wing sauce on their menu for some time. This isn’t that. This is more. More heat. Much more. And yet, it tastes great. The heat is strong, it almost overpowers the flavor, but it doesn’t. I actually really, really enjoyed it which surprised me because I’m not usually into overly hot sauces. If this sauce was just about the heat I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much.

Buffalo Wild Wings Wild Wings

Spicy. Hot. I warned you.

Buffalo Wild Wings Wild wing sauce sauce is not the for faint of heart. But I’d urge you to ask your waitstaff for a taste next time you’re at a BW3s. Or just order a bottle and take the plunge in the privacy of your own home. Remember, it’s not as embarrassing to scream “OMG! That’s hot!” at home.

I keep a bottle of this sauce on hand for any time I run across a recipe (such as my Buffalo Turkey burgers) that calls for Buffalo wing sauce.

Chef Hak’s Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

For the record, I apparently live in a cave. Where there’s no news from the outside. So I hadn’t heard of Chef Hak before I picked up a bottle of Chef Hak’s Buffalo wing sauce. Since then I’ve found that he’s a health-conscious person, with a large line of prepared foods and sauces. And it shows that he is focused on flavor, too. Because this is one tasty sauce. You’d might not even know or think about that other stuff. And don’t worry, it’s a nice middle-of-the-road-spicy sauce. Not too mellow and not too over-the-top.

Chef Hak's Buffalo Wings

One Tasty Sauce

Chef Hak’s Buffalo wing sauce is a tad bit on the thin side. Not so thin that it won’t stick to your wings. But, if you like your wings super sauce I’d suggest that you have bit of extra sauce in a lil bowl on the side for dipping your wings if you get the urge.
