Sweet Baby Ray’s Buffalo Wings

I’ve been using Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce for years. It’s a great sauce as-is, but it also makes for a good starter for making my own BBQ sauce. But until now I’d never tried their Buffalo wing sauce. For some reason, I needed a coupon to get me off my butt and to the grocery store to pick up a bottle. Well, boy am I sorry for having waited so long to try it. Sweet Baby Ray’s Buffalo wings are nothing but delicious. It is exactly what I was looking for when I made a quick batch of air fryer wings for lunch the other day. The right consistency, the right amount of spice, it’s spot-on good.

Sweet Baby Ray's Buffalo Wings

It’s Got A Good Kick.

I’ve read a few reviews of Sweet Baby Ray’s Buffalo wing sauce that say it’s too spicy. Well, yeah, each of us has a different definition of what’s spicy, but I definitely found this to be just right. It has a bit of kick. Hey, it’s a Buffalo wing sauce. It contains cayenne pepper. It’s gonna have some heat. But for me, it’s definitely not over the top.

Don’t wait around for a coupon to pick up a bottle of this sauce. Learn from my mistakes!

All About That Base

I mentioned that I use SBR’s BBQ sauce as a ‘base’ for my BBQ sauces. I’ve been doing that for years. Start with the bottled stuff and embellish to suit my fancy at the moment. Ditto their Buffalo sauce. I can use it straight out of the bottle and be one happy guy. Big time. But if I’m feeling a little adventurous, I might change it up a bit. Add a little honey or brown sugar or even molasses for some sweetness. Hot sauce for some heat. Soy sauce or fish sauce for something Asian.

Play with it. This sauce is a great way to start and a great way to finish any wings.

  • Just the right amount of heat to keep you coming…

Buffalo Wild Wings Chipotle BBQ Dry Wings

Sometimes I like to sit back and enjoy a big ole batch of dry wings. No sauce on them. Maybe some Ranch or blue cheese for dipping. But mostly just well-seasoned good ole wings. Like these Buffalo Wild Wings Chipotle BBQ dry wings. This is some of the best wing dust I’ve had. It has a hint of smoke and a hint of spiciness. A touch of sweetness. I found myself licking my fingers non-stop after each and every wing. You can’t beat the flavors from Buffalo Wild Wings.

SouthHouse Spicy Ranch Wings

This is why you should not scroll through your Facebook feed too fast if it’s like mine and is full of food-related posts and ads. I don’t usually pay attention to ads but a recent one from SouthHouse, a sports bar and restaurant in Philadelphia caught my eye. I saw bottles of wing sauces and they all looked fantastic. They’re made in-house and sounded great, so I ordered a bottle of each flavor, including Spicy Ranch, to try out.

SouthHouse Spicy Ranch Wings

What’s The First Word In The Name?

The Spicy Ranch wing sauce is… spicy! That’s why the word ‘spicy’ comes first, I bet! It’s not super-Ranchy, and not buttermilk Ranchy like say, your favorite dressing. But as you can see below, it makes for some awesome-looking wings.

For me the heat in the SouthHouse Spicy Ranch wing sauce is just right. It hit me right up front, but then mellowed out as I went. So it’s not like I was curled up on the floor in a ball. I liked it. And I can use it as a dip for veggies too!

SouthHouse Honey Mustard Wings

Never have I been so happy as when I opened a bottle of honey mustard wing sauce from  SouthHouse, a bar and restaurant in south Philadelphia, and sauced up a batch of wings hot off my grill. This sauce made my day. My week. My month. I loved it. It has just the right sweetness. And just the right mustardness. I was worried about that. Sometimes, mustard sauces can be a bit too mustardy for me. Not this one, this was spot-on perfect.

SouthHouse Honey Mustard Wings

Mustardy Without Being Too Mustardy

You can’t go wrong with the honey mustard wing sauce from SouthHouse. It really impressed me and I’d have it again and again. And make sure you get extra, because it’s great as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets, too. And it’s great brushed onto fried chicken. Trust me. This is great stuff!

SouthHouse Buffalo Wings

SouthHouse is a restaurant/pub in the south part of Philadelphia. I’ve never been there, but that didn’t stop me from ordering a few bottles of their wing sauces. I had to. They looked fantastic, like they’re made with real ingredients, with care. And they are. The Buffalo wing sauce looks amazing just sitting in the bottle. Little yummy things floating around, destined for greatness on a big ole batch of homemade wings.

SouthHouse Buffalo Wings

A Fantastic Traditional Sauce

SouthHouse’s Buffalo wing sauce isn’t too spicy, I’d say it’s just right. A nice little kick, but nothing crazy spicy. It isn’t too thin or thick, it’s what I’d call a ‘normal’ consistency, perfect for wings. And critical for me, it’s not too vinegary. I thought it was a great all-around Buffalo wing sauce, worthy of the name and a great nod to the classic.

Blonde Beard’s IPA Buffalo Wings

Beer and Buffalo wings. Two great things that are even better together. What could be better? Well, beer-infused Buffalo wings, of course! Thanks to Blonde Beard’s IPA Buffalo wing sauce, you can have both in every bite. A little kick, but not much, from cayenne, and a little IPA beer hoppiness. This is a great, smooth-tasting wing sauce. I’m a big fan of it!

Blonde Beard's IPA Buffalo Wings

A Great Sauce on more than Wings

Like any good wing sauce, Blonde Beard’s IPA Buffalo wing sauce isn’t just for chicken wings, though it sure is tasty on a big batch of wings for sure! Slather it on grilled chicken. And on ribs (yes, ribs!). Heck, you might even be tempted to drink it right out of the bottle.

Blonde Beard’s Black Magic Wings

If you’re a big fan of Buffalo-style wings, but you’re getting a bit bored with the same-ole, same-ole, then Blonde Beard’s Black Magic wing sauce is just what you need. You know the moment you look at the bottle: it’s got plenty of pepper and other spices in it. It’s not a super spicy wing sauce, but it does have a bit of a kick. Just enough. It’s a great twist on the classic sauce.

Blonde Beard's Black Magic Wings

A Great, Quality Sauce

I’ve been really happy with Blonde Beard’s. IPA Buffalo! Holy Hell! Chicken and Waffles! And of course, Blonde Beard’s Black Magic wing sauce. They’re made from quality stuff, got just the right spiciness and all taste fantastic. My only complaint is that I didn’t order enough of them!

Kosmos Q Garlic and Parmesan Wing Dust Wings

I’m a HUGE fan of dry wings. You know, wings that are cooked up nice and crunchy then tossed with a seasoning, such as Kosmos Q’s Garlic and Parmesan wing dust. No sauce. Yeah, you can have a dipping sauce, but the wings themselves are not tossed in anything but seasoning. I’m happy to see more and more restaurants and bars now offer dry wings in addition to wet ones.

Crazy good!

So, I tossed some air fryer wings with Kosmos Q’s Garlic and Parmesan wing dust and proceeded to devour each and every one. And quickly. The wing dust is crazy flavorful. I absolutely loved it. The garlic isn’t overpowering, it’s there and it’s perfect. Ditto the Parmesan. Also perfect. Certainly these are some of the best dry wings I’ve ever had. The dust is definitely finger-licking good!

Kosmos Q Garlic and Parmesan Wing Dust Wings

Not just for wings, nope!

Kosmos Q Garlic Parmesan wing dust isn’t just for wings, nope. This stuff is fantastic on a garlic bread. Just take slices of French bread and spread on a little melted butter. Then sprinkle some Kosmo’s Q Garlic and Parmesan wing dust. Remember, edge-to-edge is our pledge so make sure you get some dust along the edges of the bread too. Bake or grill at 425 F for a few minutes until golden brown. Devour. It makes for really, really great garlic Parmesan bread, trust me.

Get some!

You get a lot in each and every bag of Kosmos Q’s wing dusts. The seasonings are high quality and seasoned perfectly. You won’t regret buying it. And you won’t regret doing what I did: buy a bag of each and every flavor to try, then order much, much more!

Buffalo Wild Wings Caribbean Jerk Wings

Sometimes the spices in Caribbean Jerk sauce can be a bit overwhelming, for me at least. I’ve been lucky a few times and run across the perfectly-balance Jerk sauce, but often, not. The Buffalo Wild Wings Sauce Caribbean Jerk wing sauce is perfect for me. Not too spicy, but still packing that great island flavor. I taste the traditional spices, like nutmeg and allspice, and clove, but none are so strong as to ‘get to me’. That’s why I love this sauce!

SouthHouse Sweet and Spicy Wings

I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, which consists of literally thousands of pictures of grills and food (don’t judge!) when I came across an ad for wing sauces for a sports bar and restaurant in south Philadelphia called SouthHouse. I’ve been to Philadelphia, but I’d never been to SouthHouse. The picture of their house-made wing sauces definitely caught my eye. They looked fresh, hand-crafted and yummy. So I ordered some.

There’s Nothing But Good In This Sauce

The first sauce I tried was the Sweet and Spicy. Let me tell you, this is one crazy-good wing sauce. It reminds me a bit of Meijer’s Sweet Chili wing sauce, but with more heat. And it reminds me a bit of Quaker Steak and Lube’s Thai ‘R Cracker wing sauce, but with fresh ingredients. It’s thick, but not too thick. And I loved it. It is delicious. And its finger-licking good. It is moan-while-you-eat good.

SouthHouse Sweet and Spicy Wings

A Great Sauce To Keep On Hand At All Times

I can definitely see SouthHouse Sweet and Spicy wing sauce finding its way onto just about anything I pull off the grill. It’ll be amazing on ribs. Fantastic on grilled or roasted chicken. And delicious as a dipping sauce for chicken tenders or nuggets. This sauce is definitely a favorite of mine.
