Hidden Valley Ranch Baked Spicy Ranch Wings

Who said that Ranch wings can’t be spicy? I’m a certified Ranch-a-holic. Love the stuff. But sometimes I want a little ‘kick’ to my wings. A little taste-wake-me-up. Some heat! These Hidden Valley Ranch baked spicy Ranch wings delivered just that. Great classic Ranch flavor with some zip added in. And they’re easy to make, too! These are great wings. And they’re great for a crowd, too!

More More More. Or Not.

It’s your call on the heat level on these Hidden Valley Ranch baked spicy Ranch wings. Me, I wanted just enough to notice it but not overpower the Ranch flavor that I so dearly love. That’s what’s in the recipe below. Just a bit of a kick. You want more? Heck, go for it. Double the cayenne. Triple it. Still not enough heat? Serve your wings with some hot Buffalo wing sauce on the side for dipping.

These wings are great for a get-together. You can make a big batch with little fuss. Make them in a few different heat levels to satisfy everyone. Put each on a different platter, and put a little sign in front of them so people know what’s what.

Where’d That Smokiness Come From?

Just like you can add heat to these wings, you can also add a bit of smokiness. Kinda give them that ‘hot-off-the-grill’ feel. Baked wings sure aren’t going to have that, so you have to add it yourself. One way is to use smoked paprika instead of sweet paprika. The smoke will be subtle, but there. Nice.

If you want a bit more smoky flavor, and some heat, use chipotle chili powder for the cayenne pepper. It’s got both in one seasoning!

Fear The Broiler

Always, always keep an eye on your oven when you have the broiler on. No matter what you’re broiling. Don’t leave it. Don’t mess with your phone. Safety first, I always say!

SouthHouse Spicy Ranch Wings

This is why you should not scroll through your Facebook feed too fast if it’s like mine and is full of food-related posts and ads. I don’t usually pay attention to ads but a recent one from SouthHouse, a sports bar and restaurant in Philadelphia caught my eye. I saw bottles of wing sauces and they all looked fantastic. They’re made in-house and sounded great, so I ordered a bottle of each flavor, including Spicy Ranch, to try out.

What’s The First Word In The Name?

The Spicy Ranch wing sauce is… spicy! That’s why the word ‘spicy’ comes first, I bet! It’s not super-Ranchy, and not buttermilk Ranchy like say, your favorite dressing. But as you can see below, it makes for some awesome-looking wings.

For me the heat in the SouthHouse Spicy Ranch wing sauce is just right. It hit me right up front, but then mellowed out as I went. So it’s not like I was curled up on the floor in a ball. I liked it. And I can use it as a dip for veggies too!

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Also try some SouthHouse sweet and spicy wings.
