Stubb’s Wicked Habanero Pepper Wing Sauce Wings

Sometimes when you try a taste of a hot sauce or wing sauce you’re like “whoa, that’s hot!”. I was like that when I first tasted Stubb’s Wicked Habanero Pepper wing sauce. It had some mighty good kick, but mighty good flavor. On wings, though, it was absolutely fantastic. The heat wasn’t as hot, but that great flavored got even better. I absolutely loved this sauce.

Stubb's Wicked Habanero Pepper Wings

Great Texas Flavor With A Kick

I’ve tried other sauces (for other than wings) from Stubb’s and I’ve been really happy with them. And even though Stubb’s Wicked Habanero Pepper wing sauce says ‘wing sauce’ on the label, I’d argue that it’d be great on steaks too. In fact, that’s what I’m going to do next.

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

SouthHouse Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

SouthHouse is a restaurant/pub in the south part of Philadelphia. I’ve never been there, but that didn’t stop me from ordering a few bottles of their wing sauces. I had to. They looked fantastic, like they’re made with real ingredients, with care. And they are. The Buffalo wing sauce looks amazing just sitting in the bottle. Little yummy things floating around, destined for greatness on a big ole batch of homemade wings.

SouthHouse Buffalo Wings

A Fantastic Traditional Sauce

SouthHouse’s Buffalo wing sauce isn’t too spicy, I’d say it’s just right. A nice little kick, but nothing crazy spicy. It isn’t too thin or thick, it’s what I’d call a ‘normal’ consistency, perfect for wings. And critical for me, it’s not too vinegary. I thought it was a great all-around Buffalo wing sauce, worthy of the name and a great nod to the classic.

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Quaker Steak and Lube Smoked Jalapeno Honey Wing Sauce Wings

I love to make my own wing sauces, but I have to admit, I’m a sucker for bottled sauces too. Specially when they’re as good as the Smoked Jalapeno Honey wing sauce from Quaker Steak and Lube. My wife and I had lunch at a Quaker Steak and Lube on the north side of Cincinnati.

I enjoyed a big ole helping of their fantastic wings tossed in just the right amount of Smoked Jalapeno Honey sauce. And yes, after one bite I decided I was going home with a bottle of the sauce for my homemade wings. Just the right amount of heat and sweet, with a little light smokiness, this sauce is very tasty and not spicy enough to scare off your I-don’t-like-spicy friends.

Quaker Steak and Lube Smoked Jalapeno Honey Wings

A Pantry Full Of Wing Sauces

I would say that I on occasion have a good number of wing sauce bottles on hand. That used to worry me, but honestly, I eat wings so often that they don’t last very long at all. Especially when they are as good as the Smoked Jalapeno Honey wing sauce from Quaker Steak and Lube. I wish they had a restaurant here in Indy. I do love their wings (though they certainly serve a lot more than wings).

Quaker Steak and Lube Louisiana Lickers Wing Sauce Wings

If you’re gonna name a wing sauce ‘Louisiana Lickers’, I’m going to buy it. And so I did the last time we were in Cincinnati while shopping at Jungle Jim’s. I picked up a few bottles of Quaker Steak and Lube’s wing sauces, including one of Louisiana Lickers. No matter how you cook them, you’ll love wings tossed in Quaker Steak and Lube Louisiana Lickers wing sauce!

Quaker Steak and Lube Louisiana Lickers Wings

One Addictingly Good Sauce

I really like the Louisiana Lickers wing sauce. It is spicy, but definitely not overly spicy. It’s different, almost Jamaican jerkish (somewhat citrusy) in flavor to me. The Cajun flavor lingers, with just a bit of burn. It’s addicting, like all of the Quaker Steak & Lube sauces (see them all here).

A Great Sauce At The Right Price

I was worried that for $5-$6, the sauce was over-priced, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that that isn’t the case. For the number of wings I made I used only a little sauce, without sacrificing flavor. And the sauce sticks to the wings. Not gloppy, molasses sticky, but just sticky enough to not run off and form a puddle. I liked that. A lot.

Simple Truth Organic Spicy Garlic Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

My experience with organic or ‘clean’ wing sauces has been kind of ‘hit and miss’. Well, truthfully, mostly ‘miss’. These Simple Truth Organic Spicy Garlic Buffalo wing sauce wings are not a ‘miss’. But, I can’t say they were a big ‘hit’ either. So I guess somewhere in between is where these landed.

Simple Truth Organic Spicy Garlic Buffalo Wings

Full Of Healthy Stuff

There is a nice little kick from these Simple Truth Organic Spicy Garlic Buffalo wing sauce wings. And the garlic is just about right. The base Buffalo sauce is not the best ever, but fortunately the heat and garlic come along and make up for that a bit. And this is definitely an organic sauce. If you’re into good ingredients, this sauce is probably for you. If you’re in for a traditional Buffalo wing sauce with a little heat and garlic, you might have to stray outside the ‘organic’ box. At least for now.

Quaker Steak and Lube Golden Garlic Wing Sauce Wings

I picked up a few bottles of Quaker Steak and Lube wing sauces the last time we were at Jungle Jim’s in Cincinnati, including their Golden Garlic wing sauce. The Quaker Steak and Lube Golden Garlic Sauce is the star of this show but don’t skimp on the wings either.

I really like the Quaker Steak and Lube Golden Garlic wing sauce. It is definitely garlicky. You won’t bite into a wing and think to yourself “I thought this was supposed to have garlic in it.” It brings the garlic. Look at the picture above. You can see how the Golden Garlic stacks up heat-wise to the other yummy Quaker Steak & Lube sauces here.

Private Selection Thai Chili Wing Sauce Wings

I love the Private Selection (Kroger’s premium brand) line of wing sauces. Each one has been fantastic, and believe me I’ve tried them all. The Private Selection Thai Chili wing sauce is no exception. It’s a wonderful combination of garlic and very mild chile peppers. It packs a very, very light punch and brings a good bit of sweetness.

Private Selection Thai Chili Wings

Don’t Be Shy

Kroger Private Selection Thai Chili wing sauce isn’t just a great sauce for wings, either. It’s great for dipping shrimp and chicken nuggets too!

I recommend that you don’t be shy with this sauce on your wings. Usually I go kinda light, but I love this stuff so much I went big and didn’t stop.

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Plucker’s Teriyaki Wing Sauce Wings

I’ve had a good number of Teriyaki-flavored wings over the year. I’m a big fan of them. Some are more soy-flavored than others. And some are more sweet than others. It’s possible to have too much of both. Plucker’s Teriyaki wing sauce strikes the perfect balance between the Asian-inspired tastes and sweetness. It’s a very pleasant sauce, which seems strange to say, but it is. Every bite of wings covered in this sauce was delicious.

Plucker's Teriyaki Wings

I Can’t Get Enough Of This Sauce

You just can’t go wrong with any of Plucker’s wing sauces. Their Teriyaki wing sauce is just another of the kind of good tasty quality sauce you get from them. They’re finger licking good for sure. So pick up some bottles online or in their restaurants.

Oh, and I think this sauce will be fantastic on the rack of ribs I’m grilling later this week!

Noble Made Medium Buffalo Wing Sauce Wings

I was perusing the wing sauce section at our local Whole Foods when I came across a few bottles of Noble Made sauce, including their medium Buffalo wing sauce. Never one to pass up a new (to me) sauce, I grabbed a few and headed on home to make a big ole batch of wings. This sauce is lightly spicy, has that great Buffalo wing flavor, and has the perfect consistency. And consistency is important. Too many sauces are thin and watery. You end up with 10 times as much sauce on your plate as you do on your wings. That’s not why you made wings. You want them covered in sauce, not swimming in sauce soup.

Noble Made Medium Buffalo Wings

A Nice Medium-Heat Sauce

Next time I’m at Whole Foods I won’t hesitate to grab a few more bottles of Noble Made medium Buffalo wing sauce. Along with their other flavors. You can’t go wrong with it. It’s perfect for those occasions when you don’t want a sauce that is so spicy that it scares off your guests.

Try the mild Buffalo wings from Noble Made too!

Pepper Palace Blackberry Barbecue Sauce Wings

I highly recommend the sampling bar at the Pepper Palace store. I’ve been to a bunch of them. They’re almost like pilgrimages for me. Sauce after sauce, all lined up in a row, ready for me to try. And buy. I usually taste each and every one with a single purpose in mind: making chicken wings. And one thing I made was Pepper Palace blackberry barbecue sauce wings. Sure, the bottle says ‘barbecue sauce’ on it, but oh, fear not my fellow wing lovers! It’s fantastic on wings too!

Pepper Palace Blackberry Barbecue Wings

Great Berry Flavor In Every Bite

These Pepper Palace blackberry barbecue sauce wings have just the right amount of blackberry flavor. All in a slightly smoky sauce that is also just a bit sweet, all with the perfect consistency for sticking to your wings without being too thick. Yep, great on ribs, perfect on pulled pork, and outstanding on wings! And unexpected, too. How many are your friends are expecting blackberry wings at your next wing-fest?
