Tangy Tapatio Barbecue Wings

I love traditional Buffalo-style chicken wings. And I love traditional grill chicken slathered in a BBQ sauce. That got me to thinking. Why not combine my two favorite food tastes into a single bite? These tangy Tapatio barbecue wings do that and more. The sauce is spot-on crazy good. Not too ketchupy. Not too vinegary. It has just the right kick with just the right consistency. Combine that with a BBQ-like sauce and you’ve got wing greatness! Tapatio is one of my go-to all-time favorite hot sauces. It makes for some great-tasting wings!

Tangy Tapatio Barbecue Wings

Kinda Different. And Definitely Delicious.

These tangy Tapatio barbecue wings are quickly becoming a staple in our household. The sauce is so easy to make and all of the ingredients are something we always have on hand. As an added bonus, the sauce is also fantastic on grilled chicken, hamburgers and smoked pulled pork and brisket. And hot dogs. Yep, slathered some sauce on those dogs right after you cook them. Plain dogs are boring. They won’t be boring any more!

This is a great all-around sauce.

If you want to add a bit of a smoky flavor, add a pinch or two of chipotle chili powder or smoked paprika and stir into the sauce as it heats.

Brrrr…. It’s Cold In Here

If you have leftover sauce, just put it into a covered container in the fridge. Before you go to use it, though, get it to room temperature or even warmer. Set it out on the countertop for 30 minutes while you cook your wings. Or, if you want, pour some into a saucepan and heat it over low heat. The last thing you want to do is to put cold sauce on hot wings. Nothing good will come from that.
