Perdue Hot ‘N Spicy Crispy Air Fryer Wings

Perdue Hot ‘N Spicy Crispy Air Fryer wings really made me happy. I’m not usually impressed with frozen, prepared wings. They’re usually scrawny and tasteless. Not these. Not even close. These wings are definitely hot and spicy. They have a delicious, crunchy batter. They cook up in no time in an air fryer (you can also prepare them in the oven). The aroma as they cook is dream-worthy. And perhaps best of all, they are not scrawny! Nope, these are meaty, tender, juicy, tasty, crunchy wings! Score!

I was wrong, and I’m sorry

I didn’t have high expectations for these wings and I was wrong about them. If you like battered wings and are in a hurry, you can’t beat them. Eat them straight out of the air fryer, or do as I did and dunk them in a little Buffalo wing sauce and Ranch dressing. Whatever works for you!

Cook time

The packaging for Perdue Hot ‘N Spicy Crispy Air Fryer Wings says to cook them at 400 F for 16 minutes. Maybe it’s just my air fryer (which is a 1700 watt model), but I found that 14 minutes is better. The wings may not seem crunchy after the shorter time, but they do get crunchier as they cool a little. I thought they came out great. Any longer and they start to get a little dark. Not burned, just dark.

Perdue makes roasted and a lemon pepper versions of these wings. Try them. You’ll love them too and they’re great for your fear-the-heat friends!

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 F per the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Remove wings and let cool for 2 minutes before serving with your desired sauces.

Whole Foods Organic Nashville Wings

If you’re a fan of Nashville hot chicken (and boy, am I ever) and you’re in the market for an organic alternative to the other Nashville hot chicken wing sauces on the market, then Whole Foods Organic Nashville wings sauce is right up your alley. It brings the classic Nashville cayenne heat in a light vinegar sauce that delivers on taste too. It’s not for the shy, but it has great taste too, and that’s a major plus!

Whole Foods Organic Nashville Wings

Whole Foods Organic Nashville wings sauce is a bit on the thin side. But then, authentic Nashville hot chicken isn’t covered in a thick sauce, either. If you like spiciness you’ll like this sauce. And if you like the taste of peppers you’ll like it even more. It’s a clean flavor. And by the way, it makes a great marinade for chicken breasts!

If I am serving my wings with Ranch or blue cheese or some other sauce, I use these little sauce dipping cups. They’re the perfect size for dipping wings, nuggets, tenders and even vegetables. And they’re easy to clean, too!

Kosmos Q Buffalo Hot Wing Dust Wings

Oh how I’ve enjoyed the sauces and seasonings that I bought from Kosmos Q. Every single one has been packed with flavor. And quality. Kosmos Q Buffalo Hot Wings dust wings are absolutely no exception, with traditional flavors and a really nice spicy kick. Though I use it to pre-season wings too, I really prefer it on ‘dry’ wings, dusting them right after they are cooked. Still-hot wings love dry seasoning. And so do I.

Kosmos Q Buffalo Wing Dust Wings

You can be shy with your wing dust or you can go heavy with it. I’ve found that Kosmos Q Buffalo Hot Wing dust wings are so packed with flavor, I can go light and still enjoy a fantastic dish. The wings don’t need to be drowning in seasoning to be special. You still want to taste chicken, after all!

Make sure you seal your wing seasonings well after using. You don’t want any moisture sneaking in. Kosmos Q comes in quality pouches that seal perfectly!

Kosmos Q Buffalo Hot Wings

You know that feeling when you’re going up that first hill in a roller coaster? You’re asking yourself “Why, oh why, did I do this?” That’s how I am sometimes right before trying a new ‘hot’ wing sauce. Will it be so hot that I scream? Or will it be so mild that I am disappointed? Well, Kosmos Q Buffalo Hot wings sauce is like the best coaster ride ever. Just the right amount of heat. And so tasty good! I was so happily surprised at how much I loved how great this hot wing sauce is!

Kosmos Q Buffalo Hot Wings

I’m going to say it again because I’m smiling writing this post, flashing back: I absolutely love Kosmos Q Store. I thought the heat level was perfect. I thought the flavor was perfect. My fear was completely unfounded. This is a wonderful sauce.

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Plucker’s Hot Buffalo Wings

It’s from Plucker’s, so I knew this sauce would be amazing. And the bottle does say ‘hot’ on it, so I knew this sauce would be spicy. The key to a great wing sauce is to balance the spicy with flavor, and this hot Buffalo wing sauce does that perfectly. Yeah, it brings some heat, but it tastes so good and that’s critical. No one wants a crazy hot sauce that doesn’t take great. This one tastes great.

Plucker's Hot Buffalo Wings

Even if you’re not really into super spicy wing sauces, I think you’ll like Plucker’s hot Buffalo wing sauce. Sure, it has a kick. But if you go light on it, I think you’ll love your wings. Hey, do like I did and have some cool Ranch or blue cheese dressing on hand if necessary.

The Fresh Thyme Wild Buffalo wing sauce is no exception. This sauce is a nice, mellow Buffalo sauce. It’s a mix of great traditional Buffalo wing sauce flavor with a few twists.

Beef O Brady’s Mango Habanero Wings

Do not fear the word ‘habanero’ in Beef O Brady’s mango habanero wings. Oh, don’t get wrong, it’s a bit spicy, but it’s not going to knock you out. And a whole lot of that heat is offset by what is probably the best mango flavor I’ve had in a wing sauce. There’s no denying that there’s mango. And molasses adds a fantastic sweetness and thickness. This is a wonderful sauce.

Beef O Brady's Mango Habanero Wings

I’ve found (sorry, bad pun) Beef O Brady’s mango habanero wings sauce a bit difficult to find online. I lucked out and found it at Jungle Jim’s International Market outside of Cincinnati, OH. The search is well worth it, so don’t give up if you can’t find it on your first attempt. I believe they also sell their sauces in their restaurants. The combination of heat and sweet and fruit is fantastic and makes for delightful wings!

Cholula Mexicali Wings

Cholula Original Hot Sauce has long been a favorite of mine. I’ve used it on dishes and on wings for years. That’s why I was absolutely ecstatic when I saw that the folks at Cholula came out with their own pre-made wing sauces. I couldn’t grab them off the shelves at my local market quick enough. The first one I tried, Cholula Mexicali Wing Sauce, blew me away. This is the perfect just-spicy-enough wing sauce, with just a hint of citrus and cilantro. I could just drink this sauce right out of the bottle.

Cholula Mexicali Wings

Cholula Mexicali Wing Sauce is definitely not just for wings. I use it like a regular hot sauce, on tacos, enchiladas, you name it. I love the citrus and cilantro twist. But on wings, oh, it’s just amazing! And hey, it comes in a cool looking bottle!

Grab some Cholula Mexicali wings sauce and get to cooking some wings!

Spicy Japanese Barbecue Sauce Wings

This post is for the spicy version of Bachan’s Japanese barbecue sauce. Also check out my post on their non-spicy Japanese barbecue sauce!

It’s happened again. These Bachan’s Spicy Japanese Barbecue sauce wings have gone and made me sad, just like when I first tried their regular barbecue sauce. Sad that I went so long before buying a bottle and squeezing it onto some wings, that is! My goodness me is this ever good stuff! I mean crazy good. Lightly sweet and lightly salty with just a little kick (nothing to be afraid of!), it’s what teriyaki sauce wishes it could be. I cannot stop eating wings covered in this sauce (or the non-spicy version too!).

Spicy Japanese Barbecue Sauce Wings

The sauce is a little on the thin side, just like it’s no-heat version. Normally that would be a minus on wings. You won’t want your sauce to end up at the bottom of your plate, you need it to stick to your wings. Well, this sauce has so much fantastic flavor that you don’t need it to be super thick. Not at all. If you want, do like I do an put a small bowl of extra sauce on the side for dipping your spicy Japanese barbecue sauce wings. You won’t regret it.

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.
