Simple Truth Organic Medium Buffalo Wings

I’m sorry. I tried. I really tried. But I just could not make these Simple Truth Organic Medium Buffalo wings work for me. I’m a nice guy. I gave them a chance. I made them two days in a room, two different ways, to make sure that it wasn’t me. Maybe I had a cold, I thought. Maybe the humidity was affecting my taste buds. But no, they still lacked something. The sauce starts out making me think that it’s a thin French salad dressing, with only a bit of flavor. Then there is heat next, and it’s good. I like the heat level I have to say. And there’s a little more flavor at that point. I just can’t get past that early… meh.

Simple Truth Organic Medium Buffalo Wings

Now, don’t let these Simple Truth Organic Medium Buffalo wings stop you from trying other flavors in this line of ‘clean’ sauces from Kroger. I’ve had great success and a lot of great batches of wings tossed in the other flavors. I just wanted happy with this one. But you know, we’re all different, and maybe (just maybe) you’ll like it! Let me know if you do! Or don’t.

Copycat Plucker’s Medium Buffalo Wings

It’s a tremendous understatement to say that I love Plucker’s wing sauces. I’ve tried many of their bottled sauces and they are all absolutely fantastic. I devoured my last bottle of medium Buffalo sauce, so I had to resort to making a copycat Plucker’s medium Buffalo wings sauce. Oh, and all was right in the world again! The perfect amount of heat, just enough to wake me up but not so much to make me cry. Wonderful traditional wing flavor. These are the wings that are destined to disappear in no time.

Copycat Plucker's Medium Buffalo Wings

I cut the recipe down so I could enjoy a small batch of copycat Plucker’s medium Buffalo wings for my lunch. No point in heating up my huge restaurant-style deep fryer for just a handful of wings. So, I used my Fry Daddy fryer instead. This little fryer gets a workout in my house. It’s the perfect size for a small batch of wings.

I usually reach for the Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce when I make anything Buffalo-style. And sometimes I’ll go for Crystal Hot Sauce, which has a wonderful Louisiana-inspired flavor. You want a traditional cayenne sauce, and not something flavored like a habanero mango hot sauce!

Copycat Hooter’s Medium Buffalo Wings

This is it. The mountaintop. The best. Some of my all-time favorite restaurant chain wings, made at home. These copycat Hooter’s medium Buffalo wings were so good that my stomach is growling while I’m writing this post. The flashbacks are making me smile. And hungry. These wings have the perfect breading, the perfect ‘bite’. They’re cooked perfectly. The sauce is spicy, but not too spicy. It’s buttery. Buttery-finger-licking-good. I could eat a mountain of these wings.

Copycat Hooter's Medium Buffalo Wings

These copycat Hooter’s medium Buffalo wings are the kind you can serve to a crowd and serve proudly. Everyone will enjoy them. There’s not enough heat to really scare anyone off. Serve them with Ranch or blue cheese dressing in case people want to cool off a bit. Sure, add some carrot sticks and celery too. Personally, I don’t go for the ‘garden salad’ additions. I’m here for the wings.

I used Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Hot Sauce to make the sauce for these wings. It’s hard to stray from the original when making Buffalo-style wings. I do admit to using Crystal Hot Sauce from time-to-time, though. It’s got the right heat with a little Louisiana-twist.

Also try my Hooter’s medium Buffalo wings made with ingredients purchased at the restaurant. They’re the real deal!

Hooter’s Medium Wings

Hooter’s is where my wing addiction started. These Hooter’s medium wings (deep fried!) are as close to the real thing as you can get. Lightly crunchy, super tasty breading with a just-spicy-enough Buffalo wing sauce. No pain from the heat here, just great wings. This is not a copycat recipe. These wings are made with the same breading and sauce you can order online or pick up in the retail section at any Hooter’s. Get some, make these wings, and be happy!

Hooter's Medium Wings

I can fry 5-6 Hooter’s medium wings at a time in a Fry Daddy fryer. It makes for some perfect wings. Only downside is that you can’t select the cook temperature, so I end up cooking my wings a bit longer since the oil is around 325 F-350 F. Still it makes for great wings in no time with a lot less oil than if I’d used my big restaurant-style fryer!

If you like to serve your Hooter’s medium wings with carrots and celery on the side, I recommend that you take a vegetable peeler to remove the outer strings. The celery is oh so much more tender without those pesky things!

Buffalo Wild Wings Medium Buffalo Wings

I think I may have overdone it here recently. I’ve been eating a lot of really, really spicy wings. Ya know, the kind that make your eyes water. Time for a welcome break. Time for some great tasting Buffalo-inspired wings that don’t burn off the roof of my mouth. Thanks to the fine folks at B-Dubs (uh, that’s Buffalo Wild Wings in case you aren’t up on the lingo), I got just what I wanted in their medium heat Buffalo wing sauce.

Buffalo Wild Wings Medium Buffalo Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings Medium Buffalo Wings sauce is going to pretty much satisfy everyone you know. Or have met. Or will meet. It’s not in-your-face anything, just the right amount of vinegar, just the right amount of spiciness, and just the right consistency. And it’s a welcome break from those crazy hot wing sauces, that’s for sure.

Remember that if you have to refrigerate your open bottle of wing sauce to let it sit out on the counter for at least 30 minutes before using. You don’t want to ‘shock’ hot, just-cooked wings with a cold sauce.

Quaker Steak and Lube Medium Buffalo Wings

I love chicken wings. Homemade or bottled sauce, just as great either way to me. And I love to be surprised by just how great some store-bought sauces are. Like this Quaker Steak and Lube medium Buffalo wing sauce. This is what a bottled sauce is supposed to be.

The perfect balance

The perfect consistency. You want that. The perfect amount of heat. You need that. And that great classic Buffalo flavor. You deserve that. This is it, all in one sauce. It is nice and creamy to boot.

Quaker Steak and Lube Medium Buffalo Wings

My wife and I always stop at the Quaker Steak and Lube outside of Cincinnati when we are in the area. They have a full menu and great service. I of course only get the wings. Because, like this medium Buffalo wing sauce, all of their sauces are fantastic. There’s not even a sort-of-ok sauce on the menu. They’are all great!

Kroger Medium Buffalo Wings

I’ve said it before. If you’re standing in the wing sauce section of the grocery store, trying to decide on the next sauce you’re going to grab for a great batch of wings, do not hesitate to try the store brand. I was at Kroger, and I couldn’t help myself. I grabbed one each of every one of their sauces, including the Kroger Medium Buffalo Wings Sauce. The sauce turned out to be perfect! A decent hint of heat and the perfect consistency. This is a mighty fine wing sauce, and boy, the price was right!

Kroger Medium Buffalo Wings

If you by chance end up with any leftover Kroger’s medium Buffalo wings sauce, toss it in the fridge. Make sure you warm it a bit (at least to room temperature) before using it on your next batch of wings. Nothing makes hot wings sad faster than tossing them in cold wing sauce!

Noble Made Medium Buffalo Wings

I was perusing the wing sauce section at our local Whole Foods when I came across a few bottles of Noble Made sauce, including their medium Buffalo wing sauce. Never one to pass up a new (to me) sauce, I grabbed a few and headed on home to make a big ole batch of wings. This sauce is lightly spicy, has that great Buffalo wing flavor, and has the perfect consistency. And consistency is important. Too many sauces are thin and watery. You end up with 10 times as much sauce on your plate as you do on your wings. That’s not why you made wings. You want them covered in sauce, not swimming in sauce soup.

Noble Made Medium Buffalo Wings

Next time I’m at Whole Foods I won’t hesitate to grab a few more bottles of Noble Made medium Buffalo wing sauce, along with their other flavors. You can’t go wrong with it. It’s perfect for those occasions when you don’t want a sauce that is so spicy that it scares off your guests.

Great Value Medium Buffalo Wings

If you’ve been looking for a great, inexpensive store-bought Buffalo wing sauce that has just the right amount of kick but isn’t too spicy, the medium Buffalo wing sauce from Great Value (WalMart) is definitely the sauce for you. And me. Because I absolutely loved it. I decided to take a little break from hot wing sauces. This medium sauce definitely still satisfied my Buffalo wing craving without burning my mouth. It’s just barely spicy, and definitely very flavorful. Not overly vinegary. And the perfect consistency. I was really, really happy with it. This sauce is proof that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on a store sauce to get a good product.

Great Value Medium Buffalo Wings

The Great Value mild wing sauce is also great, perfect for wings for a crowd without having to worry about it being too spicy.

Legend Larry’s Medium Buffalo Wings

I have been more than pleased with the wing sauces from Legend Larry’s. I’ve never been to the actual restaurants, but if their bottled sauces are any indication of how good the food is, I’m going. And soon. The Legend Larry’s medium Buffalo wing sauce is the perfect middle-of-the-road spicy wing sauce. It’s exactly the sauce you want for your “I’m scared of the heat” guests, friends and family. Yet it still has that great Buffalo flavor and the perfect consistency for sticking to your wings without leaving you with a lake of sauce in the bottom of your plate. This is a fantastic sauce. Just like everything else from Legend Larry’s.

Legend Larry's Medium Buffalo Wings

Legend Larry’s medium Buffalo sauce is fantastic on wings, and it’s also great injected into wings! It’d also be great on roasted chicken in Buffalo chicken dip. I’m all about the wings, though, and this sauce really hit all the right notes on a batch of wings I cooked up for lunch.
